I initially used the surgical tubing that comes supplied and that worked well for wetsuit season, but when I started using it on both drysuit and wetsuit, the clip straps were the only option.
Now I prefer the clip straps and would not go back to the surgical tubing.
First of all, the tubing...
I mounted the 1st stage upside down to make it lower profile and used to dive it straight, now with the transmitter on the hose I tilt it (which also works a bit better for the LP inflator) and precisely due to the 2nd stage mouth comfort I'm now fitting a swivel to make it all work - good spot...
I avoid extra bits where I can like most people and always handle my gear with little worry that someone would lift the whole tank by it, but a couple weeks ago two people walked past my rig and put their hands straight onto my transmitter to steady themselves on a boat, one guy heavy in full...
What JimBlay linked there is all you need.
I got the same 'shoulder design' viton air spool with the metal separator in the middle rather than a simple tube, and a Scubapro kevlar HP hose in 10cm/4in. The hp hose length is your main decision point. Some people go for a minimum 15cm hose and...
The way the hose meets the transmitter, any transmitter-side O ring will always be squished and visible.
So remove it and rely on the two tiny O rings on the air spool, tightening the hose/transmitter metal to metal instead?
Yeah I've got a spool in there anyway (the design with the shoulder in the middle), so wondering whether it's best practice to remove that O ring or leave it in.
Hi
after two near misses of people using my transmitter as a handrail as they walked past my spot on a swaying cattle boat (totally ignorant of my beautiful nail polish artwork of course) I went ahead and finally ordered that short HP hose after 2 years of trying to tell myself it's not needed...
Whaaaaaaa!!!! on my back I can't hug it for comfort when the fish get big...
besides, I even took my dear STA off to be less of a stone with those big steels, that scaffolding won't help!
+1 for using the big ring bolt snap type on the bottom of the bottle and do that up first on the hip. Just put a finger through it to pull it in position and clip it on with your thumb. Without the big ring it would be an annoying fiddle, especially with gloves already on. I fitted it after my...
recently posted this so pasting it in:
Sealife Sea Dragon Mini 900
- Top mounted push button with colour LED battery status indicator
- Sturdy and tiny full anodized aluminium housing, 130g (-100g in water), extremely low profile for the 900 lumens, no bulk at all when clipped off

That's the one a bunch of brands slap their logo on and I'd buy it but I can't find it in Australia - and when shipping costs the same as the product, it's a pass. Thanks anyway!
Edit: tracked one down and ordered it: 10Bar Titanium Dive Knife
I'll see what to do about the sheath as I am sure...
now you're showing off with high tech gear making equipment... I just google-realised that the 'steak knife pouch' is a thing. That, some velcro strips and a hollow handle knife may just be the inspiration I needed, so thank you!
and for the 26C today I even rolled out the 5mm - I moved to...
yeah something like that, where do you have that pouch from?
The eezycut trilobite harness pouch is genius as it fits perfectly onto the webbing and securely folds flat with velcro, I am not keen on massive plastic sheaths hanging off me.
This seems to be your knife and the disgraceful pouch...
Hi there
I finally lost my Aqualung Argonaut knife somewhere in or around a wreck today, I say finally because it already came out of its sheath twice before on the boat over the last year - it just doesn't sit tight enough and it was just a matter of time. I therefore do not recommend what...
