    Is Cozumel cheap?

Exactly. From Montreal it's a 4 hour direct flight, with a one hour time zone difference. No jet lag, no wasting time flying and going through connections, no lost luggage, and we can squeeze an awesome diving week in only 7 days. Plus we love the food and the people.

Hope to visit soon...All Inclusive or not?

Count me in as being very happy with AI. My girlfriend and I have adopted the Iberostar Cozumel. We went there 3 times in 2019. We go there because we like the Dressel dive center, and for the great food (better than Occidental imho). The place is a little run down compared to the nicer...

    Officially Cancelled!

The health care system is so dysfunctional here in the province of Quebec, I don't even know if it is even possible to get a Covid test exactly on the day we want it and to get the results in written form within 72 hours.

End of 2019 and thoughts for 2020

Hum, interesting. There is an airport nearby! I could probably do it in 3.5 hours in my rinky dinky airplane vs 9+ hours by car. Sounds like an interesting trip!

End of 2019 and thoughts for 2020

2019 was a great year for me and my girlfriend. I purchased my own equipment and got to dive with it on three trips. Did my Advanced Ow in August, did my first night dive, then Rescue Diver in September, Nitrox last week, and Deep diver will be next week (November 15-22) in Cozumel. 2019 is...

First time to Cozumel -- how much is too much?

Second dive of a two tank dive is usually shallower. Personally, I dive about 10-12 dives per week, mostly two tank afternoon dives with one night dive. My girlfriend and I like to take our sweet time in the morning.

    Going Iberostar Week Before Christmas

Dressel was asking 230$ usd per person, minus the 20% rebate for ordering online in advance. I just paid 230$ usd for two people at my local dive shop in Montreal. PADI eLarning, with a one hour demonstration and practice with an instructor at the dive shop.

    Going Iberostar Week Before Christmas

I have only dove with Dressel, ProDive and the dive center at the Gran Bahia principe Riviera Maya. So I only have these to compare against. The staff is great, super friendly. And they have three boats so they try to assemble groups of divers of similar skill levels together.

    Going Iberostar Week Before Christmas

We dove with Dressel at the Iberostar in November March and August and will be returning in November. We purchase our dives online in order to save 20%. We like the service, boats and dive masters there. We also dove with ProDive at the Occidental in March, did not like the smaller boat nor...

Aqualung i300c readability vs Mares Puck Pro readability

I need 2.0+ reading glasses normally which means I really have a hard time reading small text at close range. However I can read the display of my Mares Puck Pro, but anything smaller could be a real challenge. Now I just purchased an Aqualung i300c wrist computer to my girlfriend, to use as...

A bit off topic but any Air Show Junkies here?

Count me in as an airshow junkie. I volunteer at my local airshow, providing first aid. I also flew to the Bagotville airshow this year to see the F35 with my DA20-C1. I have also visited several aerospace museums, including both Smithsonians in Washington DC, and I own a ton of books on...

Finger spool’s double ended clip detaches

Very interesting. Indeed, I would prefer having my DSMB attached at all times to the line for faster deployment. Thanks for posting!

Finger spool’s double ended clip detaches

I had it clipped exactly as shown at the beginning of the first video below from outofofficebrb. I did remove 30 feet from the spool after the 110 feet deep dive, so now I have 70 feet instead of 100. Still the spool unclipped and went to the bottom.

Finger spool’s double ended clip detaches

New diver here. I just completed my advanced open water diver course this week in Cozumel. As part of the course, my instructor had me practice deploying my small 4 foot dsmb from various depths. On two dives, I lost the spool. First during the deep dive at 110 feet. A fellow diver was...

Advice & Recommendations for Cozumel Dive + Relaxation Trip

Here are my thoughts. Mind you, I am a beginner diver and have only been to Cozumel twice so far. Over the last year and a half, we have stayed and dived at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum, Iberostar Cozumel, Occidental Cozumel and we're going back to the Iberostar in August. For us, the...

Best U.S. Cell Carrier in Cozumel

I use a voice over ip number over wi-fi which costs 85 cents per month plus 0.65 cents (less than one cent) per minute. I use the zoiper softphone app on my Android phone. So I do not use the mobile network at all. Of course, it only works as long as I am connected to the hotel’s wi-fi, which...
