Use Nose plugs or is there a bigger issue?

To put things into perspective, when you dive rebreather, breathing out your nose (or around your regulator) is sometimes necessary to adjust loop volume. periodically breathing out through your nose should not cause issues, even if there is a small, slow leak.

Use Nose plugs or is there a bigger issue?

I agree with those above who said breathing out through your nose does not cause your mask to flood. Do you have facial hair? Is your mask properly fitted? Are you wearing it properly? The two biggest issues I see are leaks around facial hair and poorly fitted masks. Both are easily solved.

    JJ CCR Dead?

Thanks, that's the kind of insight I was looking for : ) For the record though, I never said "there's a good chance it's true." I asked because I was skeptical. If he'd just been Joe Six Pack, I would have blown it off. The fact that he wasn't gave me pause. While we were speaking with him...

    JJ CCR Dead?

The insight could be... “this is common knowledge, he’s been open about it” or it could be “He has a legacy plan that is not a secret to any of us” or lastly it could be “only he knows and he ain’t talkin.” I’m new to this community and I don’t know what’s known and what’s not. Moreover, I...

    JJ CCR Dead?

I’d really rather not name drop. People get funny about that and this is a small community. I’ll just say that he works in the industry and he has access to things that most of us don’t. I asked my question, because I am new to rebreathers and for all I know, what he told me is common...

    JJ CCR Dead?

This wasn’t “some guy on the internet” and it wasn’t “his buddy heard.” This guy is in a position to know more than me. He is a well known and well respected dude in the industry. You in no way contributed to the quality of this thread. Please go crap on someone else’s thread unless you have...

    JJ CCR Dead?

I was recently certified on the AP Inspiration. I was speaking with a prominent local diver who mentioned that JJ was dying soon. This guy is in a position to know things that I don’t. In any case, he said the owner of the company plans to retire and has no intention of selling the company...

    Fiesta Americana heads-up

I was there in July for two weeks and stayed at FA as well. I have a friend who's local and he told me that they were building on the beach, and essentially trying to privatize it. He said that it's been a big problem on the mainland with hotels essentially trying to close their beaches to...

State trooper drowns - Great Sacandaga Lake, New York

How does this happen? Don't they have rules and protocols related to who is authorized to use this equipment? This seams like a really stupid accident that never should have happened. This was entirely avoidable.

Rental gear is sanitized? Where are you diving and can you get me Kanye's autograph next time you're there?

    Sudafed in Roatan?

Pharmacies can't sell it, but I bring it every time and have never had problem. I leave it in its original container, and I've been searched at customs more than once. I only bring enough for a two week trip though, not enough to start a meth lab...

First open water dives with rebreather...

Similar issue for me but opposite I was initially too bottom heavy. Adjusting the position of the rebreather (shoulder straps) and moving a 3 pounds out of the weight pocket and into a mid back trim pocket made all the difference in terms of my ability to stay in something approximating the...

First open water dives with rebreather...

I said my "kit was dialed in, in terms of adjustment." I'm not dialed in lol, I am weighted correctly and my equipment is just adjusted and fitting me the way it should be. On the fist day, it was too lose, riding too low and I was overweight. Once those issues were fixed, I was much more...

First open water dives with rebreather...

This. That is what my instructor told me and I started doing it last night. It make a big difference. On an hour long dive I vented maybe three times total. Aaron

First open water dives with rebreather...

If the air makes it into the bottom of the back mounted counter lungs (like if you go heads down) it can be unavailable breath until you come back to a slightly heads up position. The instinct is to add air which impacts buoyancy and really isn't needed. If you then float up, the air in the...

Atomic has a new regulator out

Personally, I think it's stupid. I'm not offended that they make it. But if I saw one on a boat, I'd probably think it's owner were a bit of a tool. I'd keep my mouth shut though : )
