If you had only 1 day to dive while in Bali...

I dived Gili Tepekong and Gili Mimpang out of Candidasa a few years back (usually accessed from Padang Bai I think). Awesome sites and potential for Mola Mola too. Recommended. I believe there are several other interesting sites in the Padang Bai / Candidasa area so that would make sense from...

Bali - Candidasa / Padang Bai or Nusa Lembongan with family

Thanks @Luko After more research, and discussion with my wife, we’ve decided to stay in PB after Amed, and will snorkel at Blue Lagoon and Bias Tugel. Will likely dive with Geko Dive. Fairly easy to get to Nusa Penida from PB, without the extra trip from Candidasa, but some local dives around...

Bali - Candidasa / Padang Bai or Nusa Lembongan with family

Had kinda dismissed Pemuteran as its a long way from the airport, which ever way round you do it. Dont really fancy a long drive after or before a long flight, and dont want to add a night nearer the airport, but maybe worth reconsidering. Thanks.

Which beach was that? We were thinking of staying at Mushroom Bay, if that makes a difference?

Bali - Candidasa / Padang Bai or Nusa Lembongan with family

Hi, its been a while since I've posted but we recently bought our flights to Bali for an August trip and would like some advice on where to stay. Apologies if this topic has been done before but I couldn't find the specific answers I wanted through the search. We're both divers and our 2 kids...

Best Dive Centres In Phuket Thailand

Can't answer what the best dive centre in Phuket is, and who you use will depend on which part of the island you're staying (all the day trips depart from Chalong pier on the SE of the island so bear that in mind), but I dived with Sea Fun Divers in April. Very nice owner and they have their own...

    Divemaster course in Sharm?

My wife and I did some fun dives with Diving & Discovery back in October. One of the best dive centres we've come across during our 11 years of diving. The owners and staff are all very professional and friendly, with a great house reef (possibly the best shore dive in Sharm). They are Italian...

    Allrounder Fins for beginners

Just gonna throw in another option: Look similar to Avanti Quattro but with some added benefits, like being largely made from recycled materials and being cheaper (in the UK at least). The micro adjustments on the straps sound good too. I really like FE gear, and their company values. I...

    Allrounder Fins for beginners

I used to own Mares Avanti Quattro plus and I liked them. Not too heavy for travel and good for various finning techniques, but I had an issue with the clip coming off, which put me off, and they are quite long so not great for packing for travel and can be a bit awkward on a small boat or in a...

Apeks DSX dive computer: Any info?

https://www.sdswatersports.co.uk/Apeks-DSX-Technical-Dive-Computer Does this website provide more info than you've already found? Not clear if it's still pre-order or whether it's in stock yet...

    XTX200 vs XTX50

As previously mentioned I really like my fsr 1st stage. It's fairly heavy, if comparing with some of the warm water travel regs, but fairly compact, and I like the way the HP ports are angled downwards and the LP ports are angled ever so slightly upwards. This helps a little with hose routing...

    XTX200 vs XTX50

As others have mentioned, the 2nd stages are essentially the same aside from the chrome 'bling' on the 200, so your choice should be based on which 1st stage you prefer. I got the the xtx200 simply because, at the time, there was a deal on for the 200 making it cheaper than the 50...so a no...

    YOKE vs DIN

For what it's worth, I've done a lot of my diving in SE Asia (Thailand and Indonesia mainly). Occasionally had to use an adaptor in Thailand, but it's no big issue. I have my own but the dive centres I've used have had adaptors. I've noticed there seems to be more DIN tanks available there now...

    Thailand

We went to Koh Lipe in October a few years back, so the tail end of 'wet' season when you'd normally expect the most rain on the Andaman side of Thailand. Stayed on sunrise beach on the east and dived with Adang Sea Divers. It's a nice island and weather was absolutely fine. The only rain I...

Good holiday destination for beginner diver and kids

Thailand is also a good shout. We've been many times and are heading there again in April. As Centrals mentioned, make sure you choose your location based on time of year. Another thing to bear in mind is that the covid testing regime is currently pretty strict and expensive even for the...

Good holiday destination for beginner diver and kids

From your location in Australia I would look at Bali! Check out Amed - good for snorkeling and shore diving apparently. We were supposed to be heading that way then Covid happened. Haven't been to Amed but we visited Tulamben and Candidasa a few years back. Great diving but not ideal for beach/...

Looking into buying my first bcd (EU)

I own an XDeep Ghost, which is excellent for travel. I mainly dive warm with 3mm shorty or board shorts and rash vest, but I've used it with a full length 5mm in the red sea, with 10kg lead (12L alu tank). The wing has plenty of lift and feels streamlined in use. The v-shaped crotch strap is...
