It is robust. Check.
You like how it breathes. Check.
You've done the research for servicability. Check.
Double down on robustness. Check.
You have a boat so cash really isn't the problem here.
I don't think you need advice! You've clearly done the research. Go get the Mk25s and go have fun! :)
As I firefighter/EMT, you know that certifications and requirements generally don't mean that much; you were able to demonstrate the bare minimum of aptitude to receive a piece of paper. All the scuba organizations have their 'requirements' but at the basic recreational level they're more or...
Agree with formernuke above.
Welcome to forum Jrob4449; credit where it is due, you did phenomenal research; the gear you picked out is all excellent.
Similar to you, when I got cert'd I did lots of gear research and asked a lot of questions to ensure I wasn't making a mistake.
And my fear...
Welcome to the cul--- I mean forums! :)
I've always been curious about diving in Japan. I plan a lot of my vacations around diving, so this could be the excuse to tour Japan!
We look forward to your questions!
Coz is not my favorite, but I believe the value proposition as repeated above is far and away why for so many it is a top destination.
We last dove Coz in 2021 during the pandemic, so there wasn't a lot open. That was absolutely fine for us; we dislike proximity to cruise ship destinations and...
Spend some time with the tarsiers on Bohol! :)
Yeah, sometimes we need to cater to the needs of our non-diving partners. I'm just lucky - maybe poorer - caught the diving bug as much as I did!
Absolutely this.
I totally understand that DMs (particularly on boats in vacation destinations) get a lot of 'resort cert'd divers' who dive infrequently, so their reflex response is to assist in order to maintain safety and smoothness of operation.
But when I say 'I've got a handle on my...
You are definitely overthinking, no offense meant. :)
Don't bring the tester. I bought one specifically for LoB diving. It now sits at home gathering dust, along with all the other items I 'thought I would need'. I have yet to be on a LoB where using one was inconvenient or a problem (YEMV)...
I prefer to setup my own gear. For me it's like firearm maintenance or other 'mechanical meditation;' I like the process, it focuses me, and makes me hyper-present. And if I screw something up, it's MY fault, not the poor crew guy. I am also a large human, so I tend to show up early at the dock...
Wow, look at all the armchair MDs!
I'm sorry to be blunt, but seeking medical advice from a forum -- however, well-intentioned the advice or seemingly minor the affliction -- is foolishness.
Please go visit an actual medical professional.
Perhaps they realized they were not going to get the sympathy they believed they were entitled to. Only 1 message in their history; 'I joined SB so I could complain AND get sympathy' is generally not a winning strategy.
It's not uncommon, particularly if you use your dump valves to correct buoyancy (which a lot of new divers do). Nothing particularly bad or wrong with it; it's part of the learning process.
As said above, eventually you will reach the point where you correct your buoyancy primarily with breath...
I do not suggest safety take a backseat -- quite the opposite. My comment is based on the economics of the business; are divers willing to pay more for safety (or the illusion of it)?
