Building on what Kmarks said, make sure that the BCD holds air for an extended amount of time before you take it out. Completely inflate the BCD and let it sit for a couple of hours, checking back every so often that it continues to hold air. Make sure that all of the dump valves work easily...

Also, not to be a wet blanket, but repetitive diving and hot tubs don't mix due to the increased risk of decompression sickness (DCS). It probably isn't so much of an issue with shallow, shorter dives. It's something to consider if you are doing longer or deeper repetitive dives.

I would definitely talk to your local dive shop first for multiple reasons, one of which is that they can generally service the gear that they sell, and another bring that it really pays to build that relationship. See if you can try different pieces of equipment before you buy.
