Yes, the dye will continuously fade over time. The color will eventually stabilize at a relatively dull orange, but still fairly visible especially with that reflective strip.
I got the previous generation F7 for around this price due to a misprint on a shop's website. Great reg.
I'm saddened to see that DGX is no longer offering the Huish equipment, specifically Zeagle and Atomic.
For Hawaii, the NOAA offering is a fair bit better than Google Earth's. I realize now that not everywhere will be as high resolution as Hawaii.
That said, I am not a GE wizard by any means. What modifications can I make to my settings to improve my experience?
Hello, I have just stumbled across this little widget from NOAA. It presents worldwide Bathymetric data.
Mostly applicable to boat owners, I guess, but the maps should be of use to shore divers. Share liberally.

Dear, Shearwater staff.
I would like to suggest that you add on a column for compass heading on your dive log.
Depending on storage limitations, maybe a sample every 5-10 seconds vice the depth's 1 sample/sec rate or perhaps just an entry when the mark heading feature is accessed.
I am a diver (SCUBA and apnea) in the US. Until the price of ammo went through the roof I was an avid shooter.
I think that it is an uninformed opinion that the shooting sports are violent activities. I own a gun and enjoy shooting, but I have never shot at anything besides paper and metal...
My favorite frameless mask is the Cressi F1. It doesn't have that squishy silicone skirt you were asking for, though. I really wish the Atomic masks fit my face better.
I do like that the Magnus is a bit easier in terms of ambidextrous operation.
The only thing I can complain about the Genesis is that I have trouble adjusting speed while holding it with my left hand. :(
I'd propose having two speed levers on either side of the handle that are interlocked, but...
I'm of the mind that you should buy once and cry once; there aren't many arguments against buying the best equipment you can afford and having the right tool for the job. That said, besides being cheaper, plastic fins have the distinct advantage of being highly tolerant to abuse.
Gerie, what's your availability and dive ability? I'm always looking to expand my dive team.
I generally side mount two 80s, but occasionally bring out the 120s for the bigger dives.
I'm free all day most weekends.
As a fanatical, shoestring budget DIYer may I suggest gluing the foot pocket in place then laying up some fiberglass/carbon fiber along the exterior?
I mean, think of the resale value! Custom CFRP foot pocket Atomic Blade Fins. I put that up for $250-$300 retail. Am telling you fact.
Less QQ...
My three favorite shore dives on Oahu are Makaha Caverns, Shark's Cove, and Hanauma Bay.
Electric Beach, Magic Island, and Point Panic are the three sites with the least amount of post dive sand.
Still haven't made it to 3 Tables, but that's another popular spot; it has a rock feature also...
Here's a quick reference chart for the corrosion potential of metals.
If your plate and fasteners are made of 300 series stainless steel, I wouldn't worry about removing the lead weights; the weights will be the first to go.

If you're comfortable with doing so, remove your BC before getting back on the boat and ask your handlers to give you a hand with equipment.
I was going to suggest sidemount since I think it's easier to don and doff tanks in the water, but I'm not sure if your hand can handle the stress of...
I guess one with quick release functionality (should be every one on the market) and a crotch strap would be the best since it would prevent the belt from riding up.
Stick with the name brand free diving ones if you want.
It's actually pretty hard to mess up a rubber weight belt.
