    Rust on Trilobite body

Well, I did an all right job knocking a lot of it off with green scrub pad (scotch brite I guess) and then some 150 grit sandpaper. I can tell you what not to use - dremel with wire brush. Some of that is rust in the plastic, not just rust on the plastic, so we will see what happens.

    Rust on Trilobite body

Thanks all, yeah the blade still cuts no problem and these (replacement) blades came with the original tool when I purchased it in 2014, but I may as well just have a go with it and if need be get new ones, ha

    Rust on Trilobite body

I had some blades that rusted pretty good in my Eezycut trilobites about a year back, I ended up replacing the blades and being sure to do a thorough rinse and dry after dives, but the new blades are showing rust near the body (and in the body) where the rust was/is. I've tried cleaning the (is...

Noob questions for diving Okinawa & Osezaki

A little late but for osezaki, there's an inner bay and outer bay. The outer bay has sort of a wall area, tons of eels and more life, but vis can get bad. The inner bay is.. garbage, but around my (right-most) red circle it goes down to maybe 33 feet, then 49 feet, there have been some nudi...

Quality diving WITH topside in Japan?

Well you have the area right, once you get north of Kyushu you'll be hard-pressed to find warm water that time of year. However, you might be near cherry blossom season and there are shrines/temples and hikes pretty much everywhere.

Second Stage - Titan LX vs Titan LX Octopus

That's all great to know - so if I wanted to have the octo adjusted to breath the same (say I wanted to make it primary), I'd just have to ask a service tech to adjust it?

Second Stage - Titan LX vs Titan LX Octopus

Thanks, herman. I opened them up to give a quick brushing to the threads and they appear to be identical for me, but the "octo" does breathe harder, even on the same setting. Maybe that's because I've mainly only used the black one during dives

Second Stage - Titan LX vs Titan LX Octopus

I have a "Titan LX" (first and second stage) and a "Titan LX Octopus". I've attached a photo to be clear. These two regulators - they are identical (internally/mechanically) except for the color - is that correct? I mean the octo also has a snowflake/asterisk on the top of the plastic too - but...

SEAC Synchro second stage diaphragm failure

You say super minor but that could have easily resulted in much worse had the conditions been different or had you panicked - it's great to learn a lesson or be reminded of a lesson without it turning into a full-blown incident. Glad you handled it calmly and didn't feel like you needed to skip...

Should I bring my cold-water gear to Florida?

You need to separate the backplate and wing (physically) else you risk damaging the wing bladder.

Should I bring my cold-water gear to Florida?

The only "cold water" gear I think would be different going from warm would be wing - my current wing can't lift the weight needed if I was in a 7mm suit, so I can't imagine any cold stuff not working in warm just fine.

    PADI AOW - Narcosis Training?

All right, so it seems just being aware of what to pay attention to is probably as much preparation you can do, aside from always being aware of your depth and etc? Thanks!

    PADI AOW - Narcosis Training?

I do not enjoy the PADI eLearning thing, I don't have any of the course materials for my recent course(s), but I still have all the manuals from my beginning courses. Anyway, I'm a bit unclear about the narcosis section for Advanced Open Water. I've completed my AOW and my maximum depth during...

Proving Dive Numbers - scuba earth okay?

That's one of the first things I was told in OW - there's nobody sitting at 60ft checking your card - it's 100% on you to know your limits.

Worst dive so far - Vertigo

Good info, thanks! Luckily no, the ENT confirmed the trauma and she's been good since that healed!

Worst dive so far - Vertigo

I'm not Nitrox certified, in this case would it be that the mix might be poisonous, so you can't just assume it's the highest (safe) concentration?

Worst dive so far - Vertigo

My wife experienced barotrauma in her ear on a dive in the keys that resulted in complete vertigo and vomiting somewhere around 30ft - from what I could tell it was god-awful, ended up at the hospital once we were off the boat. From what she describes, I want nothing to do with it underwater.

Last minute information for Tokyo dive sites.

Ack, sorry I missed this. We just had a group dive Osezaki on the 2nd and 3rd - did you end up diving?

Diver missing at Blue Heron Bridge?

Geez, I always knew the tide can drag you out pretty fast there, but this is surprising and sad.

    Any equipment buying regrets ?

I bought integrated weights for my BPW harness when I got it, lost some body-weight and now there's not enough waist strap to even use them - I think I prefer the belt anyway
