    Hmmmm, not such spectacular backing...

I think you meant *realist. I'm aware of the positive feedback on Shearwater's customer service. But, even if everyone with an out of warranty Shearwater was given a brand new computer with a free steak dinner and then I wasn't given a thing, I still wouldn't complain.

....or it's because they find you annoying and want you to shutup. But, either way, I guess you won! Congrats.

    Hmmmm, not such spectacular backing...

I worked in sales and customer service for a bike company and this was one of my biggest pet peeves. It's a TWO YEAR warranty. Not an "X" number of dives warranty. Your number is subjective and is irrelevant to the warranty. I had people who would say "I know it's out of warranty by a month...

Tourist dead, 7 arrested - India

Last year I went diving in the Philippines off Cebu Island. We were going out to where some whale sharks had been spotted. I was sitting in the back of a pickup, with my girlfriend and about 8 other Chinese tourists, that was taking us to the boat. They looked quite nervous and when we got to...

Canadian woman presumed dead - Roatan, Honduras

LOL. The last time I "heard" a deer was sitting on my parents' porch, since my mom wrapped a string with bells on it around the perimeter of the yard so she'd hear when they're coming to eat her flowers and she could scare it away ;)

This is literally 95% of what happens in every accident discussion.

Current dive conditions in Koh Tao?

I got certified there. A lot of people here will say it's not that great, but if you're a new diver I think you'll find it just fine. I know I certainly found it awesome while I was there (saw some small sharks, rays, etc), but I didn't have anything to compare it to at the time since it was...

Input on our Accident and Incidents Forum... What do you want? How do you want it?

Ditto X10,000. If you have something valuable to add and you want to end your post with "my condolences" than great. But, if you are simply writing those two words and that's it...

    Sea Sickness.

I'm usually okay while the boat is moving. I think it minimizes the effects of the waves (unless they're really big swells) and the wind also helps. The rocking on the stationery boat is definitely what gets me and, as someone else mentioned, swimming on the surface is just as bad since it's...

    Sea Sickness.

Oh god, there's no way I'm going past 10 feet if I don't feel good. I know it's possible to puke under water, but I'm not going to risk it. Plus, if I already feel sick and it doesn't subside in shallow water, then the dive isn't worth it since I know I'll just feel crappy.

    Sea Sickness.

I commented in that thread and I'll comment here again. I get quite seasick. I usually take Gravol regardless of how I'm feeling, just to be careful. It says to take 2, but I usually take 3 or even 4 sometimes. The problem is it makes me really drowsy (the non-drowsy stuff doesn't work well...

Diver dies after being rescued in Jupiter

I could not agree more. I get seasick as can be. I know it's bad so I only go diving when conditions are awesome and I feel perfect; plus I STILL take 2-3 anti-nausea pills. It sucks 'cause I love to travel and try new things, but my nausea has put a damper on more things than I would like :(.

Diver dies after being rescued in Jupiter

It's not really that difficult to find out where to draw the line. It took me about 10 seconds of Googling to find the morbid obesity is described as "100% over ideal weight" or a BMI over 30. I doubt it would be hard for doctors to find the BMI or weight that becomes a greater risk to go...

    Terminated on grounds of amputation

I'm not sure, but maybe they were just being honest? Or, maybe his firing was a direct result of a specific incident, that was just so obvious that there was no point in denying it. For example, maybe he was an instructor and a diver was struggling to get on the boat and he was unable to help...

    Terminated on grounds of amputation

I hope he does provide more info, just because I'm curious, but as of right now I do side with the resort. It looks like he said he could do a job, despite having a disability, which it turns out he could not (at least according to the resort). I'm not lawyer, but if I were representing the OP...

    Terminated on grounds of amputation

Agreed. Just because the OP works for the "handicap scuba association" doesn't mean he can automatically file a lawsuit...

    Terminated on grounds of amputation

I like how they say "it was only in the last sentence that you indicated that you lost a hand", as if, if it had been at the beginning of the interview, it would have been okay. In practically every interview I've ever done, they've asked me at the end of the interview whether I have any...

British teen dead - Wakatobi, Indonesia

I have not gone through a situation anywhere near what that person went through in that video, but I do ten to panic sometimes (I still consider myself a new diver). I think it's due to my claustrophobia. Honestly, especially while getting certified, every second of every dive my brain was...
