    Closed Santi Elite Drysuit

I have a custom built Santi, and I believe it is worth the hassle/wait to get it fitting correctly. Your arms and legs are obviously too long and the crotch is too low. Garments are not going to really change that much. Could you MAYBE make it work? Probably, but you'll be 1000% happier in a...

Dive knives when out with a DM

Me, and my honker. I agree about retention. I use an Aqualung US divers, and I double bungee the knife to the sheath on my leg. Also, I make sure the sheath is hard plastic, and not fabric so I don't end up stabbing myself.

Good Basic Boat Scuba First Aid Kit

Here's what I keep in mine. Im sure this is way more than you are looking for, but maybe you can get some ideas from my list. My kit is rather large with all this stuff in it, and some of these items are not appropriate for the average first aid kit. This kit was built with the idea in mind of...

    Lionfish injury in Florida 2016

You are more likely to end up zapping yourself or your buddy by forgetting to turn off the shark shield before you get out of the water. In all the Lionfish hunting I have done, I have yet to have a shark show any interest at all in my Lionfish. I would keep your eyes peeled for eels, and...

    Lionfish injury in Florida 2016

I have been shooting Lionfish on a weekly basis for years now, as have many of my diver friends. After harvesting thousands of these fish every week for many years, I have been stung only once, so I am inclined to think that the method we currently use works pretty well. However in the grand...

Do you wear a dive watch?

Planned, square profile dives which are the result of timers and tables have never reflected the reality of the diving that I do and always resulted in inaccurate representations of my dive, and in my experience have been fraught with abbreviated bottom time as a result of diving a sawtooth...

Do you wear a dive watch?

I know more non-divers that wear dive watches, than actual divers. Same goes for those pilot watches with the built in barometer and compass. With modern diving being almost 100% computer based, and dive profiles planned and executed as such, a dive watch does very little other than tell time...

where can i get mask prescription lenses

I have fooled around with most of the pre-manufactured and less expensive solutions, which may be fine if you are an occasional vacation diver. If you dive a lot though, it is well worth spending the extra time and effort and money to get your mask lenses from prescription dive masks, as several...

    Lionfish eradication

There are plenty of places buying them, and I have yet to hear anyone question whether they came from a recreational boat or a commercial boat. Many are listed on the FWC site that I linked to above, right below the section where they encourage recreational divers to spear and sell their catch...

    Lionfish eradication

There is no doubt spearing helps in very localized areas, but it does nothing for the Lionfish that are well beyond 300'. Beating them back helps, but overall it is likely a losing strategy. We will never completely eradicate the Lionfish I believe and removing them one by one, by hand is...

    Lionfish eradication

I applaud their ingenuity, and not to burst any bubbles but I feel that robots are no better a solution to the problem than divers with pole spears. Traps are the way to go. Creating a trap that will catch Lionfish only and exclude others is the trick. There are a few promising designs out there...

What did you find on coastal clean up day 2016?

We of course got a ton of water bottles, also beer cans, beer bottles, bait bags, straws, dog toys, tennis balls, boat seat cushions, plastic sandwich baggies, crack baggies, and part of a styrofoam cooler. We got two 50 gal bags full of stuff off two miles of Intracoastal.

This sounds bad for the Aquifer

"Dont worry groundwater moves slowly" He said, as the water poured into the aquifer! And they will get away with this I am certain.
