I live in Montreal and we often go camp in the st Lawrence parks, it's a set of 5 campgrounds from glengarry to ivy Lea. All nice campgrounds and you get to dive the old lock system and several wrecks. Plus, it's a close to brockville and there are tons of charters.
We are actually going to...
I too have problems getting gear that fits properly. Most, if not all exposure suits cut for women would need to be 2 size larger for me. I too have hips and very strong thigh... Meaning I can swim forever (:-) ) but I need to get guys suits. And these are way too long on the feet, legs and...
Can I add that you better unplug your bc and drysuit and loosen up your boot laces before you get out of the water and unzip the drysuit as soon as you get out of the water if you do not want to sit in the car until it melts ;-)
Nice video! I was wondering what the access of the dive sites in the river was like, got my answer... I'm thinking snowshoes will be useful this year to get to dive sites ;-)
In cold water, a first stage free flow can cause this, we're talking 40F and below. Also, some bc manufacturers have a bad system were when the wear on the button will eventually cause it to stay in inflating position of "stick" a bit. A small piece of sand in the inflator can also cause that. I...
The catalina 100 are -8lbs buoyant when full, which is similar to a lp 98 (a common choice for sidemount). A hp100 is -10. So with two of them, you prob could remove about 12lbs of lead for a hp100 and 8lbs for a lp 98, plus a little for the extra reg. You could go up to 120hp given your size...
Sounds really interesting, was looking for live aboard on the great lakes for last summer, did not find you guys :(
I was wondering if we need to book the whole boat or not and if I could get an idea of prices, just to start thinking about it...
In Quebec, the best recreational spots are definitely "Les escoumins" and "Gaspésie". In the first, there is a dive base with air and changing places FQAS --> Base de plonge. In the second, there are two "cities" you can dive from: Forillon and Percé. In Gaspésie, you may get to dive with seals...
We'll be there! My cell is: 514-825-2338 although I'm not sure if it works or not in the US :dontknow:

We could meet at Cathedral rocks and make either Old Garden or Folly Cove a plan B if conditions are not good... We could meet on the street just in front of Emerson inn by the sea Cathedral Ave

Definitely up for it if we can get someone who knows the site to guide us in and out, as oldflounder said, it seems to be a tricky spot to get it and out from what I've read but worth the effort :-)
I dive drysuits. Wetsuits are feasible (assuming the temperature outside is not too cold) but I would not go with anything under a 7mm full suit + 5 to 7 mm jacket, giving you 12 to 14mm on the upper body...
It really however depends on your tolerance to cold water and on how long of a dive you...
In the region of the old locks, there are villages that were flooded when they built the new shipping channel. I don't have more details than that but it would prob make a good dive, although with a lot of current...
