How do you transport your gear? Car/truck/C-130?

I've been hauling gear in my 2004 Toyota Matrix. Usually fits my gear, my buddies, and 4 tanks with plenty of room to spare. Back seats fold down completely flat with the hatch back area. I think if we had to we could fit at least 3 divers with full gear and tanks.

    Fills over 80 Cuft

I am not 100% sure on the price, but when I bought all my gear my LDS threw in there membership for air fills. I believe they said it was a $75 value (per year), which includes unlimited air fills and 2 rental tanks a week. They have never specified that larger tanks would be any more. Have not...

Flat lens for GoPro Hero HD

Quick Question: I ordered the gopro and the whole shebang from Mako Spearguns, and I am very pleased with the transaction! I installed the new lens per the instructions on Mako's site. I took the housing and placed it in a tub of water to check the seal on the new lens and I noticed that some...

    Death at Utah's Crater

The diver should have known the risks and taken precautions to avoid this. I cannot believe they are trying to sue the resort, much less the instructor who recovered his body, or the one that lent him the mask. Crazy.

    Atomic Z2 or Oceanic GT3

    Bahamas: Missing Female Diver

Maybe with the full face mask, you use more air because the possibility of you talking through some sort of communication device. Just a guess.

I want to buy Atomic reg but are they really noisy?

Have owned and been using a B2 for the last 5 months and aside from the above water honk, it is silent underwater. My buddy's is the same. I would 100% suggest Atomic.

    fast ascent

Not a medical professional, but a hemophiliac that is prone to bleeding. I was told that the constant changes in pressure in our sinuses and clearing can cause minuscule bleeding. Not a big deal for most people, not a very good thing for bleeders!! Hence why I always get an injection before diving.

    Seaquest Balance

I use a balance as well and have not noticed any dumping issues. I am getting pretty good at reaching the dump that is right above my right hip as I'm horizontal, which seems to release almost all the air if i am not careful. I think I may have bought on that was one size too big, which isn't a...

Cayman Brac: Snorkeler and diver die in separate incidents

Great story Dandydon. It reminds me of a Neurosis song that uses a clip from the movie "The Sheltering Sky" and goes like this. "Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well, yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small...

Close call in the dressing room

Heres one for you all, When I was getting all my gear for my OW checkout, the very helpful lady at my LDS was trying to size what wetsuit I should wear. I told her that an extra large would probably be best for me, she looked at me and handed me a medium or large and said "Humor me and try this...

Atomic B2 or Scuba Pro Mk25/600??

Its my understanding that the seat saving orifice that has the chance to leak is the same piece that enables the regulator to go 2 years without service. If all I have to do is pressurize my regulators when cleaning them in order to go another year or so many dives without a service than so be...

Dive tables take a back seat in SSI training

Have not read the entire thread, but was recently open water certified through SSI. We were taught to read/use the tables with hypothetical examples in the class room sessions. When it came time for our first open water dives, our instructor cracked out his log and assisted us all in filling it...

    Diving and Piercing

I've had my labret pierced, although never dived with it. When I did have it pierced though, there was nothing going through it as long as there was an actual stud or something keeping it sealed. Even when I would take it out, I wasn't able to shoot water or anything fun out of it. So my guess...
