I've used swivel for years with no issue.

Sidemount for local, walk-in diving, for old farts.

I dove sidemount several years ago as an alternative to back mounted doubles. It was different, but fine. It seems like a good alternative where a low profile is important, as in cave or wreck applications. Or for a shore dive where you could put first one tank, then the other in the water as a...

    DIN vs YOKE (USA)?

Problem is that many rental tanks are 20 years old and the threads aren’t necessarily in great shape. I have had more trouble seating my DIN valve than I have had with oring issues with the yoke adapter. The next first stage I buy will be yoke.

    Under weighted New Diver

You ask if there are risks to being underweighted. The risk is that at the end of your dive, with less air in your tank, you might have difficulty holding your position for your safety stop. Many instructors will consider 1KG extra weight for a new diver to be a reasonable precaution. As you get...

    Trip Report KITTIWAKE WRECK DIVE!

A common theme on SB is that new divers often believe that just getting certified gives them a sense of expertise and unwarranted confidence beyond their level of experience. A wreck penetration after only a handful of dives can be terrifying, as it apparently was for you. Better communication...

    Philippine Airlines inter-island weight restrictions

I see the Manila to Dumaguete fares include 20 kg limit for checked baggage. Anyone know the charges for additional checked weight and is rollaboard policy fairly liberal?

    Curacao Suggestions

We have always been a group of four, with two of us photographers. If we swam any slower we would be going backwards. The dive bus guides have always been very good at spotting macro subjects, and accommodating our dive profiles. Just email them and tell them what you need.

Sea and Sea YS-D2 vs YS$D3

After many years of use I had a YSD2J element burn out. I was told there are no replacement elements. So I now have 2 YSD3s (happy with them), one working backup YSD2J, and one paperweight.

So your choices of macro lenses are: Sony 50 f2.8 Sony 90 f2.8 Tamron 90 f2.8 Canon 60 f2.8 macro w/metabones adapter These are all sharp lenses. The Sony 90 was most likely used for the vast majority of macro images you have seen which were taken on a Sony body. It is always compared...
