    Galapagos conditions

We went to the Galapagos last July and I had a really bad knee injury but still managed to get in/out of the panga with full equipment on (I really wanted to dive(. I think the first time is the worse, but it gets easier after that.

    Galapagos Liveaboards

I can't comment on the other liveaboards, but we went to the Galapagos with the Agressor last year and the DMs, crew and boat were great. We also booked our hotel reservations through the Agressor which was a disaster and they took no responsibility for it, so if you do go with the Agressor I...

Aggressor II to Galapagos - DO NOT GO ON IT.

Sorry to hear this. We were in Cocos a couple of years ago and had excellent DMs, Javier and Beto (who was also the captain). Last year I went to Galapagos with the Agressor. The DMs and crew were great, but our hotel reservations were messed up and the Agressor took no responsibility for it...

    Where did you dive today?

Nowhere unfortunately, I'm stuck in snow covered Canada at the moment, but am looking forward to a trip to Palau in July.

    Beached whale sharks

I didn't realize that whale sharks could get stranded, but of course it makes sense, tragic as it is.

    Shark farming

Interesting idea, I have never thought of shark farming, but personally am against it. Shark finning, regardless of where it happens is cruel, wasteful and pointless. I dived with some divers from Hong Kong and they said the younger generation is starting to "get it". Hopefully people get it...

    Shark finning.

I love Sharkwater. It's what really got me into diving with sharks. I've started a blog and to date have two posts, one on hammerheads and one on whalesharks (below). I'm hoping to help increase awareness (outside of the well informed diving community) and also provide people with some...

Interview with Cocos Park Ranger - video

Thanks for sharing and kudos to the park rangers. Having been to Cocos I was disturbed to see so many sharks with fish hooks hanging out of their mouths. I also don't think having a protected area only 12 miles from Cocos Island is sufficient. Cocos is truly an unbelievable place and we need...

    Video: Tigersharks in Cocos Island

Great video! I kept hoping to see a tiger in Cocos, but we had to settle for white tips, hammerheads and a whale shark - LOL! Javier was also our DM and is a very talented videographer.

Shark feeding dives in USA? Why not???

I really hope that shark feeding dives don't start cropping up in the U.S. as I think it will just be a matter of time before something happens, as it has with all wild animals who have associated humans with food. I live in the Rocky Mountains and the slogan is "A fed bear is a dead bear."...

How do you ladies deal with long hair?

I'll have to try braiding my hair and the conditioner. I've always just worn it in a pony tail and ended up with the same mess that some of you are describing.

The DATA Project: Divers Against Touching Animals

I've just signed this. It's great to bring awareness to this issue since it's one of my biggest pet peeves and I see at least one diver try it on almost every dive I do.

I know there are no stupid questions but.....

Log the open water dives. Your log book can come in handy when you're more advanced since some dive operators will want to see a certain number of dives before they'll let you dive with them if the currents are strong (i.e. a liveaboard in the Galapagos, Cocos, etc.)

Diving Wolf and Darwin Island with Knee Injury

I dove with Agressor in the Cocos last year and we suited up, then made the jump to the pangas there as well. I'll definitely be letting them know that I'll be putting on my BC in the panga, I'm concerned about the jump as it is, let alone doing it with equipment and weights in potentially...

Diving Wolf and Darwin Island with Knee Injury

Good advice, I'll check their website and see what I can find out. I'm going with Agressor and the customer service guy confirmed they use pangas. Thanks.
