Solo Diving: It's time to set the record straight

I think if I hear one more negative comment from the divers I'm around, I'll go postal. I'm tired of hearing them whisper and talk behind my back about the fact that I solo. Not to mention the LDS instructor telling me "its just not a good idea". I've seen him dive:( When he showed me his...

What did you buy that you regret?

TSandM look at the Tusa led.... mag switch with cr123 batts super bright its really underrated on the lumen output. It seems to be closer to 180 lumen than what they advertise at. great little backup

    Dive Flag Awareness?

Like I said.... Lake patrol are quick to point out if we're in the wrong..... but not so much with the idiots that run over our flags!

    Dive Flag Awareness?

Yea, but have you ever heard of a boat operator getting a ticket for running over a flag in Tx. I've never heard of here in Okla.

Useless Dive Flag in Rainbow River, Florida!

I feel the same as many others do on this board. It sometimes seems that we complain about this issue to ourselves while asking the question, how do we make others aware? When law enforcement at times seems ambivalent to our plight. Actually I'm kind of fed up with the dive flag issue, it...

    Dive Flag Awareness?

Universally- any law is only as good as its Enforcement! If the auhorities are unwilling or unable ( lack of manpower) to enforce these Laws then this is as good as it gets. DSDIVING I absolutely agree. I have yet to see the local lake patrol ever get on someone for the lack of awareness of...

Where did you solo dive today?

rx7diver thanks for your input and you're right probably a bit aggressive, and yes I do dive a computer, and have a backup, and carry a watch. No I don't do square diving tables anymore because of the reduced bottom times. There might be a slim poss. that two computers crap out but doubtful...

    SOLO Diving Practice Skills

Been diving solo since my ow cert. mainly out of necessity, and like the challenge.. I too practiced at 15 to 20 feet just as previously stated, probably the hardest and most challenging thing is aspirating water accidentally!!! Overcoming panic in that situation is tough!! That happened to me...

    First Public Safety Dive Today

Mudhole thanks for the info. I have spent a lot of time on Tenkiller but not much under it. I will be diving there in a couple of weeks so I'm anxious to try some of the places you mention. I think I might have to make a trip to Lake Ouachita sometime soon though, great info!!!!!! Maybe we...

    First Public Safety Dive Today

Thanks to all for the response. Mudhole, I did dive Tenkiller the first of May, and it was ok. I dove Beaver lake in ark this weekend and there is no, and I mean no comparison to the two! Beaver on it's worst day is better than tenkiller, imo. I made 7 dives this weekend. One on fri...

Thanks TC I will, and I will definately log the PSD dives. Right now I think I will keep them seperate, since there's so much difference between the two disciplines.

    First Public Safety Dive Today

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have written a detailed report of the incident and its now part of our "Run Report". I just wasn't sure whether or not to put in my logbook. Was also wondering if I should keep a separate logbook for the PSD we do???

    First Public Safety Dive Today

Well it was more of a wade than a dive but it did finally get to 4 feet. How do I log that??? lol Muddy, slick and nasty! But what else can we ask for in PSD Been reading around here for a while but really had no reasons to post, because, any questions or comments that I could...
