I don't really know what to say except you have Jeanne and my deepest sympathies, Peter.

    Confess your SCUBA sins

Suggestions? 1) Plan for it instead of "sneaking", make it part of your dive plan that you will spend X many minutes on her air supply. If I might suggest, make it earlier in the dive, so you will be a bit closer in PSI by the end of the dive. 2) Get a bigger tank/tanks. If you are diving...

    Confess your SCUBA sins

OK, I gotta as... why? Are you documenting it for a merit badge or something? Is there a PADI "Pee In Your Wetsuit" certification card that you have to log a certain number of "yellow" dives for? Do tell.

    Confess your SCUBA sins

I thought of another sin... I called my light one-mil gloves (I wear in the quarry to keep the midwestern piranhas from nibbling and the old rusty crap from cutting me to shreds) "reef gloves" in front of a warm water dive instructor. He freaked out on me for like 10 minutes for calling them...

    Confess your SCUBA sins

Why not take a bit of bungie cord and just bungie it around your neck, so it's right up against your chest and you can always find it. If you are still dragging it in the muck while it's mounted there, then you have bigger issues then where your octo is :)

    Confess your SCUBA sins

Do you sin? Do you do something you KNOW you shouldn't on every dive?:no::no::no::no::no: I've been thinking about my own SCUBA sins, and my own SCUBA issues. When boat diving, I always rush into the water on the second dive because I am very prone to sea-sickness and a boat...

    Danglies

It drives me nuts when I see people dragging gear flailing out behind them, octo fluttering in the current on the right side, heavy console bouncing around the left side, hoses sticking out all over the place.... What is so hard about making sure you don't have crap dangling, tearing up both...

    Aquarium Diving

The diver in that photo won't impress me until he learns how to tuck in his freaking console.

How strong of a swimmer are you?

I suck at swimming but I float really well, so my chances of drowning at the surface (especially if I am in a wetsuit are very, very slim). I wish I were a stronger swimmer but it really doesn't affect my diving at all... When I dive in open water, I personally am not in ANY hurry to go...

How deep have you gone on air?

You mean we are supposed to pay attention to how deep we go? I am going to try that next time I dive... sounds like it might be fun to know.

Dove with Blue Water Divers, Quiescence & Silent World last week, all three excellent

Hi, we dove with three different operators at Key Largo last week, and I just wanted to drop a note that all three were excellent. Because of the screwy nature of our trip (which was not actually a dive trip, but rather a trip to south Florida so we took our dive gear) and our non-set...

    Where did you dive today?

OK, this was last week just got back. Dove Key Largo, we ended up doing Molasses (winch hole, spanish anchor, etc) and Elbow (wreck of City of Washington, etc). Went out with three different operators, Blue Water Divers, Quiescence and Silent World, all were good and all I can now recommend.

Boat Diving Questions - impatient crew and new divers

On the one hand, the crew should not have made the divers feel pressured. Having said that, when you put your rig on the tank (I am assuming this was done back at the dock, everything should be set up and ready to go IMHO. Everything should be clipped off and streamlined. When I put my rig...

    Who hates their DUI drysuits?

Yes, it has been. In fact, DUI suspected our suits were in this batch, and contacted our LDS where we bought them (Y-Kiki Divers in St. Louis). DUI had the serial numbers of where the suits went, and contacted them before the issue was made public. Y-Kiki immediately contacted us and told us...

    Who hates their DUI drysuits?

Both my wife and I bought TLS350's a year ago November, and both of us had significant moisture issues with them... not really leaking as much as general wetness inside. DUI issued a recall on the suits made during that time period due to defects in materials, and I sent outs in and found out...

The best brand names on scuba diving equipment

I see this is an old thread and the OP has probably either gotten what he/she wanted or quit diving, but I will answer it anyway... I use and recommend: Scubapro regulators HOG regulators Deep Sea Supply SS Backplate & Wings (Hogarthian) Dive Rite Nomad sidemount systems Henderson wetsuits...

Disadvantages of not having any weight to ditch?

I guess I am a little confused here... you say "my little wing...", how little of a wing are you diving with double steel 100's? Depending upon the tank, those puppies mounted on a backplate with full kit of regs, harnesses, knives & other accessories are going to be pretty negative... is your...
