considering Aggressor II trip - minimum dives

Sure, I said we're experienced, not "very experienced". We've both been diving in cold water in strong currents in the past, comfortable at 25-30m, comfortable with negative entries, good on our air etc.

considering Aggressor II trip - minimum dives

Thanks everyone, that's quite reassuring. We booked the Aggressor II for December!

considering Aggressor II trip - minimum dives

My partner and I are considering booking a week on a Maldives liveaboard and the current favourite is the Aggressor II because there's a nice discounted fare on the date we want to go (December). We're experienced divers with 120+ dives each and good air consumption. On drive trips I'm always a...

    suggestions for early Jan diving

Thanks for the ideas. Thinking about it some more, we'd prefer to stop somewhere further north to break up our trip from Europe to Australia more. Raja Ampat looks cool but it's not too far from Australia so we can go there another time. Thailand would be ideal except I read that the diving...

    suggestions for early Jan diving

I'm looking for a suggestion for diving in South East Asia in the week or two after Christmas. We'll be travelling from Europe back to home in Australia and want to stop and dive, and also enjoy some other activities (culture, national parks etc). We both have 120+ dives and have dived between...

Thanks, that worked. I wonder why it didn't work in Oceanlog. I think it used to....

    can't set VT3 date

I can't seem to set the date on my VT3. It's stuck in 2006, probably since the battery died after a few years of non-use. I replaced it about a year ago. Using Oceanlog 2.x I write the settings including date, which seems to work, but then the date hasn't changed. Does anyone have any ideas?

Coral Sea weather and sea sickness in April

My better half and I are considering a trip out to the Coral Sea ex-Cairns with either Mike Ball (Spoilsport) or Spirit of Freedom at easter, which is the first weekend in April this year. We're both a bit prone to seasickness and are slightly worried about spoiling the work. Personally I had a...

    How much experience for Galapagos?

Same on Deep Blue last November. For the record, I don't agree with mossman. There's no need to touch the whale shark. There's no need to touch the rays or the eels either, and I don't personally. Nor the iguanas etc above land.

    How much experience for Galapagos?

It's not obvious to me - why is it a safety risk? I've done most of my dives with a snorkel and I am yet to drown.

    diving near Kota Kinabalu

I did the climb... my legs hurt for about 5 days afterwards and it was cloudy up the top :) Oh well.

    diving in Sipadan

(Back from Sipadan now) I rented a full length 3mm after the first dive because I was scratching my legs up too much. There's some nasty stinging plants to be careful of too. I was plenty warm enough in that suit.

    Galapagos conditions

What do you mean left behind? I have to admit that sea sickness is one of my worries. Cool water is fine (68F is best case in summer here in Melbourne), current is not such a concern (got some recent practice)..

    diving in Sipadan

What's the water temp in late July? Trying to decide what to buy/bring in the way of exposure protection. Looking forward to leaving my 6mm at home..

    Galapagos conditions

I was watching a documentary recently where some researchers tried to tag whale sharks at Ningaloo (northwest Australia) and track them, thinking they were crossing the Indian ocean. Instead they seemed to head somewhat west but then up into Indonesia. Still lots of research to be done. Fascinating!

    diving near Kota Kinabalu

Thanks all! Unless I can get a last minute place on the Mt K climb I'll def. plan for a day of diving at TARP.

    diving near Kota Kinabalu

I'm going to dive at Sipadan, Mabul etc at the end of July with Seaventures. Afterwards I've booked a few days around Kota Kinabalu where I intended to climb Mt K, but that's probably not going to happen now so I have a couple of days free. Is it worth diving near KK or will I be disappointed...

I understand, it would be a novelty for me to see Polaris! So is the panga like a zodiac?
