Heading to Coz later this winter and cenote dives may be of interest time permitting. I’ve never dived in one. Looking at online videos some cenote dives look relatively safe - more like a big upside down bowl with overhangs or crevasses - so there is access to the surface, e.g. Casa cenote...

I carry a refillable water bottle with me when I travel.. may as well use one with a filter. If as it seems there are big jugs of water in lobby’s etc. I’ll refill from and filter that supply. No telling what kind of biofilm/gunk may be inside the spigot. It’s like double masking 😀
Sort of off topic but with Cozumel being the giant tourist/diver destination it is, why is the drinking water system so “crappy”? Why no investment in infrastructure?
Heading to Coz this winter. As I avoid buying or consuming bottled water if at all possible I’m considering buying a purifier and using it with tap water. Any suggestions? The Grayl purifier looks good
Having not been to Coz before and heading there this winter what’s the easiest transfer from the airport down to Hotel Cozumel? Taxi or shuttle? Can you easily get a shuttle when you deplane or best to have travel agent pre-book? Thanks.
Have you looked at the Optimal buoyancy calculator spreadsheet posted on this site created by a site member. It’s a very detailed and useful tool to give you a ballpark starting weight recommendation for exposure suit, tank and BCD scenarios.
Appears to be a Euro brand (Agir)? I’d not buy a new wing in this configuration but price was good. Since consensus seems to be it’s not optimal.. I’ll pass. Thanks all.
My current BCD is for warm water travel, 24#. Playing around with the optimal buoyancy calculator it appears that >35 # is best. The LDS recommends one that is 36# IIRC, but new is pricey. I’m more curious about this particular wing design, if it will work ok for single tank aluminium with...
I’m looking at used gear to get into cold water/dry suit diving and so will need a BCD or BP/W with more lift. I’m likely buying used as it’s quite an expense (suit/BCD/cold water regs etc). Would a 38 lb horseshoe wing work for singles? It’s on a steel plate and harness and priced way less...
Just came back from GC two weeks ago. We dived all of the sites mentioned. I found Cobalt coast to be “more fishy” than the others. Maybe because it is not dived much? Saw big schools of durgeon and blue chromis. Dive Tech rents DPV’s there which is great fun. It is true at Eden rock you...
