Thanks for your advice, guys.
This discussion turned out going in a rather different direction than I expected, so here is some additional information.
1. I am from Germany, where NOBODY EVER goes broke for any kind of medical expenses. There is mandatory cheap state health care. I realize...
To my dismay, I discovered yesterday that I have a cavity in one of my molars. Unfortunately I do not have dental insurance and am not willing and able to spend a lot of money to have it fixed right now. My university has a dental plan that covers pre-existing conditions, but it would take at...
The guy was obviously pretty upset when he wrote that. The majority of his blog is a rant because he had a bad day. He does make several valid points:
-You don't need a computer
-Computers can break
-If you rely heavily on your computer and it breaks it can ruin your day
On the other...
I disagree. My life has never depended on the presence or absence of a BC. Furthermore, a couple of tiny holes are hardly anything more than a nuisance.

Try shaving an inch off your fins after each dive where you outswam your buddy. Soon you'll be just as slow as the rest of us!

Keep in mind that for most medical conditions as well as medications it is not known whether hyperbaric conditions cause problems. In order to err on the side of caution, I would carefully evaluate worst case scenarios for the problem in question. To use an example from above, "ten years without...
Saturday morning sounds good, but I think sunrise is a little too early for me. As far as the location is concerned, you guys know your way around much better than I do, so you lead I'll follow.

I hate to admit this, but I did a whole dive once with without having closed my tank bands. I was using a Halcyon BC and a painted AL80. My trim was crap, but I didn't recognize the problem until afterwards. My tank was loose but amazingly still more or less in place even after gearing up...
I recommend you check the seal between your corrugated hose and AIR-2 by submerging your slightly filled BC in a tub. I prefer finding leaks before the dive.

Keep in mind that you can pull the mouthpiece off a reg and breathe directly from the hard plastic part. This is probably a bad thing to have to do under the stress of an OOG situation. Nevertheless, I'd prefer no mouthpiece to one that makes me gag.

I sure hope the 9:30 dive is still on, because I'm coming. I don't have internet access at home, so please send out a warning real quick if I'm wasting my time. Unless I see something within an hour or so, I'll follow scuba_jenny's instructions from page 4-ish and aim for 9:00am
