    Additional weight?

4 is not a bad guess but you probably want to have more just in case. An extra 2-4 won't make the dive that difficult. At the end of this dive with a low cylinder pressure, in she shallows and an empty BC you can hand weight off 2 pounds at a time to see where you go neutral. Nobody can give...

Are dive computers making bad divers?

How likely is that failure mode? You have established that it is sensing depth and the display is operable, in other words it operating and not detecting an internal fault. After that it's algorithm execution. Are you saying it might make a mistake?

    Inductive Charging and Bluetooth Interface?

This helpful! We have had bad luck changing batteries in out Aries Atmos 2 computers. Between seating the plug and getting the lock ring just right it's not a system I'd buy again. That being said I know there are more goof proof battery hatches out there and that may be all I really need...

    Inductive Charging and Bluetooth Interface?

So the old dive computer is getting on in years and I'll admit that I haven't even begun do do any seat time on where to go next. Looking at how electronic gadgets have progressed I'm thinking of 2 features that seem highly desirable. Inductive charging would eliminate the need to mess with...

    Colored Boots for Steel Tanks

I didn't know they still made those cylinder condoms. The way those cling to the cylinder is pretty much a guarantee that salt and moisture will be trapped and regardless of finish there will be terminal corrosion. The very notion of jamming on hot means they go on for keeps. The UK self...

    Colored Boots for Steel Tanks

It's not just vanity, it would be a good way to boost visibility. I searched for the same some time ago. Pete

    BARE Reactive 5mm wetsuits

I have a 7mm with a few dives and I like it. It replaced a 2005 Bare Arctic with 300+ dives on it. How much the material technology contributes is something nobody here can objectively answer. Personal fit will be the defining warmth factor. For instance water entry in the feet was noticeable...

Magnetic Scuba Tank Rack for Truck

Prolonged proximity to permanent magnets will induce ionic depletion in the breathing gasses. When breathed this will result in IDS (Ion Depletion Syndrome) which is not a happy ending. Having spent time around maglocks and seen them break free there is no vehicle sheet steel remotely sturdy...

    Sherwood Genesis tank oddities

Probably made by PST with the mentioned 7/8 fine thread neck (and valve) DIN only. Perfectly nice cylinders if you're a DIN user. Pete

    Tank Carrier?

A cylinder hanging from each hand balances pretty well if you're tall enough to do that with your cylinders of choice.

    Dive buddy's as a woman

I know this is an old thread but it ran in a season where I'm often otherwise occupied and since it's been revived...... How do does a guy even begin to"sneak off at weekends to dive with the boys"? Load a bunch of gear out of the house leave and expect not to be noticed? For this to even be...

    One benefit to diving

1, Diving with any appreciable congestion is asking for it. 2, The common technique is the Valsalva maneuver, not Valhalla which comes from Norse mythology. Now I think you were trying to make a valid point and shot yourself in the foot with your bull headed approach do ear safety. Prior to...

    condom caths

Timing is everything and skin oils have a lot to do with it. The later in the day it is the more likely you may need to wipe as mentioned above. For an AM dive I put it on when I am freshly showered and have limited skin oil. I have been OK just putting it on latter in the day as well but YMMV...

Opinions on HP QDs for gauges/computers?

I have used the Oceanic Datalink for years to permit moving my console from regulator to regulator. The threads can get crusty and need to be cleaned once in a while but that's par for the course. I probably would not bother as a packing convenience, there must be a better way. Pete

Can I purchase any regulator and adapt it for use with my Brownies Third Lung?

You are going at it backwards. You leave the compressor alone and tweak the 2nd stages to work with sightly lower than normal SCUBA intermediate pressure.

    Atomic Aquatics Subframe rust

Rust to the extent that a piece fell off in a few months? I don't think that should be possible unless you stored it in a salt spray test cabinet, then it's a maybe. I'm smelling bootleg, definitely not normal, bring it back and make sure you get the replacement in factory packaging.

To shop owners or owners of spare air tanks

As said, it's a small hit on your first tank of the trip and when you come right down to it the air is still with you. That small hit on that first dive should amount to a dive planning rounding error. You can ask for the top-off but don't fret it. I will reinforce that you be grounded in what...

Does this drysuit look too baggy?

I missed that it was a custom. My comments stand but I'll add..... I can't speak for the specific brand but many customs are not truly custom cut. They use standard components and mix and match to provide the best fit. Where you mention being muscular the limbs may be the divers. Big arms and...

Does this drysuit look too baggy?

As pictured I agree with it looking a tad on the loose side. Looking at the pictures I doubt that you are wearing Canadian water appropriate undergarments and those will close the gap. Remember that this suit has zero stretch, leg length needs to be available to allow thing like figure 4 fin...
