To start I prefer permanently installed dry gloves.
With SciTech neck seals I had no trouble getting the neck seals properly fitted with the gloves on. With my new costum DUI with DUI zip seals. The seals are so soft and supple I can't get the neck seals straitened out with my dry gloves...
Putting the hose around your neck reduces jaw fatigue when your using it and improves streamlining when you not using it. I'm not sure why you wouldn't go this route.
I've waisted a lot of time trying to engineer a better system just to land in doing it the way most of the world does it anyway.
All classes should be undertaken under the evaluation by a good instructor of your personal skills and mindset. We should also strive to realistically evaluate our own limits as no instructor is perfect.
Personally, I think zero to hero TRIMIX is a worse idea than zero to hero cave.
Shearwater added these modes because they need to compete with the other manufacturers feature lists. It's all about the recreational diver that is comparison shopping.
Assuming we are talking same day dives. If the first dive is long enough to exhaust the scrubber, I'm starting with fresh sorb. If I'm starting with fresh sorb and exhausting it, I doubt I'm doing a second dive. 4 to 6 hours is a long time in the water to plan a second dive.
I have seen it recommended to coat them in Christo Lube. Problem is it dries out, and it is conductive. So you have to balance water protection with shorting your cells. Haven't found any dielectric grease that is compatible with a breathing environment.
All surfaces must be completely clean...
My opinion:
The reason most breather divers are instructors is because >20 years ago any LDS you walked into would tell you instructor was the top dog baddest of badass diver you could become. Some still do. Now however you are starting to see more technical divers with no professional...
No, but competency with 2 deco bottles and a stage/travel will greatly simplify your breather training. Most people don't get there until TRIMIX. Most AN/DP classes don't even teach two deco gasses. How do you stress the importance of switch protocol with only one deco gas?
Trying to figure out if this: "SMB to 2/3 pin Molex connector" is equivalent to the K22D. I have one cell about to die and I would like to replace it with one of these rather than open a new chemical cell.
Adding to Jim's comment. Having taken AN/DP does not mean you are "highly proficient". It means you now have a license to practice and become proficient.
I know of CCR divers that are afraid to bailout because they never learned to "feel" their OC gas consumption/requirements in deco or...
