Luxfer back in the scuba business

I have two Al80s brushed and one in the natural finish. Unfortunately I haven't found anyone around here who carries it...but since it will be only one of two options from now one perhaps it will be more prevalent. :D Brushed or natural, I'm good with either.

Advice On Building A Set Of Doubles

I use a DSS Torus 38lbs doubles wing for double 72s and it is fantastic. :D Rock-solid, stable, easy to dump gas, doesn't really taco around the tanks, and a good amount of lift. I've also used my Agir 38lbs doubles wing for double 72s and it works nicely as well. Not as easy to transfer gas...

    MiFlex Hoses

I am considering getting the LP hoses for my backup reg and my LP inflator -- with DS4s they can put a decent strain on the hose over time. Actually I need to replace my HP hose on my doubles rig (rubber is starting to come off! :shocked2:) but I don't think I'll replace it with a Miflex hose...

    Best bottom timer/computer

Clipping onto the left-hip D-ring can be easily done with practice. Once your d-ring is set into the position where it is going to stay, just practice it a few times. The muscle memory will start to kick in pretty quickly.

    Back-Up Torches

You just don't know your own strength! :D I'm glad Halcyon is taking care of his for you. I've seen it happen on one or two of them before.

    XS Scuba Worthington Tanks opinions

I wasn't implying that Worthington is the only one who does this, or that they are the only one with sizing issues (however, when they were first starting out, I know they seemed to have more issues with it than other companies). I've seen multi-sized Faber and PST cylinders as well. Luxfer...

Luxfer back in the scuba business

I already posted this on TDS but thought I would mention it here as well. According to this webpage, Luxfer is now back in the scuba business, with a few slight changes. XS Scuba is now the only distributor for the United States, and Luxfer is only making four cylinders (actually three...

That's a good thing, especially after they started making that CCR wing. :D

    XS Scuba Worthington Tanks opinions

Because when I bought my 119s I didn't have the extra $120 to upgrade them to 130s. :mooner: Looking back I should have just paid the money, but....oh well. The 119s make decent doubles, although they might be slightly head-heavy if you are a tall guy. They are essentially equivalent to...

    "S" Drills

Yes -- something tells me I could have worded that better. We'll do a full s-drill before the first dive of the trip, and then modified s-drills before the start of all the subsequent dives. The full s-drill being there as practice, with the rest to show that we can fully deploy the long...

Hope you enjoy it! They make good stuff.

Which make of the manifold and why?

How recently had they been reworked? Over time they can get pretty gunked up. Cleaning them and redoing the valves can make most of them as smooth as silk. However I have noticed that Thermo valves and the Sea-Elite valves are usually pretty smooth.

Which make of the manifold and why?

The posters above have given you some good information -- let me echo the recommendation for the double-barrel o-ring seal (on probably 99% of manifolds today) rather than the OMS face-seal. Always better to have redundancy on something like that if possible! Let me also recommend that you get...
