Essential practice skills before sidemount can be fully experienced? Essential?! Gimme a break. This isn't underwater ballet here. In a cave you very rarely (if at all) swim inverted like that. I guess we should just stop sidemounting according to you. Do you even cave dive?
Thanks. My wife is supposed to leave tomorrow for Cebu City. Supposedly they aren't supposed to take a direct hit with the typhoon moving further north. All we can do is hope and say prayers for the people in its path.
We can ship to Singapore however it might be expensive. You can calculate here: DECO - Dive Equipment Company - Sidemount - BCD's Add the item to the cart and enter your country and zip.
I'll be in the Philippines in January if you'd like to arrange some sort of pickup there. Do you have...
I use the Faber FX 100's which have the same specs as the Faber Stealth. They're great sidemount tanks. Edd likes them, too.
I don't use a buttplate. If the tails float just clip them forward.
I think both rigs are good and it all comes down to personal preference.
I use the Stealth wing with a harness where the webbing drops down to the front like the Hollis 75 or HOG. It's a good place to mount your backup lights. This is what I use in cold water/steels/drysuit and Florida...
On the left is the Razor (45 lbs lift) and the Stealth is on the right (37 lbs lift). Both are fully inflated. As you can see, the Razor has a slightly taller profile due to having larger lift capacity. If you shed 8 lbs of gas from it to equal the Stealth's 37 lbs, it would be safe to assume...
I keep hearing this beach ball effect in the Razor. Yeah, if you fully inflate the thing it's gonna be a ball. But why would you? I mean, we're talking aluminum 80's here. Even with 2 stages I'm not close to fully inflating that wing. What am I missing?
The Razor is great in that it is minimalistic but lacks ease of adjusting and some people don't like the profile of the wing when inflated.
Stealth is easier to adjust however I'm not a fan of the pull dump on the bottom nor all the bungees for the wing.
The Armadillo is not as minimalistic...
