I agree on looking into getting a wet/drysuit. If you are not comfortable in your local waters then you are only limiting yourself to warmer waters that might not be easily accessible to you. If going wet, look into a 7mm or a semi-dry wetsuit.
Remember that the deeper you go the cooler the...
Orda Cave, Russia
Ojamo Mine, Finland
Molnar Janos Cave, Budapest, Hungry
Thunder Bay, Michigan
Iceland
Pump House on Greers Ferry Lake, Arkansas
These are just a few. Anywhere that has an interesting history or geology behind it, I want to dive it.
Congratulations on entering the underwater world!
When I got back into dive in 2017 I was in the pool weekly working on my buoyancy and it has paid dividends. If you can, I would suggest to have someone experienced get in the pool with you to help you fine tune it. Once you get your buoyancy...
I have noticed my backup (Aeris Manta) to seem to creep up more when doing multiple dives (3-4) than my Perdix. With my plan of getting into tech diving next year I am curious as to what people are running as a back up. Been debating on getting an older Shearwater as my backup.
When diving with a redundant computer, do you dive with the exact one as your primary or is your secondary a different make and/or model?
I dive with a redundant computer and it is my old computer. I normally keep it set on basic dive mode as I am not doing real deep or technical dives right now.
I bought a Rx mask when I got back into diving (2017) and love it. My local dive shop had to ship it out to get the lenses put in, but it was back in a couple weeks. Since then I have started to wear contacts but I always have my Rx mask as a backup if something happens while diving in my contacts.
I dive the Si-Tech Glove Lock Dry Glove System and love them. The only thing is that you have to make sure that cuff is seated correctly when you install the seal, or else the cuff will leak a little. Other than that one issue they have worked like a charm.
Mask was equalized throughout the whole dive.
Plan is to make a couple more dives with the current ones I have and then possibly make a change to a different kind of contact.
I have noticed here lately that after a dive in which I wear my contacts one of my eyes has a hard time focusing. I have never had the issue before while wearing my rx mask and glasses. Just curious as to if anyone else has experienced this and what solutions you have found.
Thanks.
I would also ask as to what temperatures you should be expecting. What I wear under my drysuit when the water is 45*F is a lot different than when the water is 72*F. Moisture wicking layers as your first layer is crucial in my experience and then get progressively thicker. But keep in mind the...
I do have equalization tubes in my gloves and they work for getting the warmer air into them. By the time I start putting more air into my gloves my fingers are past the point of return most dives.
This is definitely a start on what else to look at. For right now it is manageable, but was...
I am wondering what everyone uses as insulation in their dry gloves. I have a thin liner in mine right now but after about 30 minutes in 48* water my fingers are cold. I have a thicker pair of gloves that fit in my dry gloves that I am going to try, but wondering if there is anything else out...
We have finally got our dates set for our trip, Aug 19-24. The only thing is that we are still trying to narrow down where exactly we want to dive. Right now it looks like Thunder Bay and the Straits are the leading the pack. What are some of the must do wrecks in this area? Also, are there...
Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas during the winter and spring time. There are a couple old homesteads that you can dive as well as the old pump house for the city water supply that is still intact. The pump house is ~120 at normal pool and stays around 50* year round.
There is a chance that I may be relocating to the Cincinnati area from Arkansas. What are some of the good diving locations in that area. I am kind of spoiled of where I am at right now in Arkansas.
Thanks
