    Gas Pressure Indication Redundancy

My wife had her non-wireless air-integrated console computer's gauge fail - Well not fail, but suddenly started showing 0 psi. We ended the dive, and upon further inspection ended up cleaning out the port with some pressurized air, and have not seen the problem since. She has had an analog...

Hawaii - Diagnosis and Firmware v0.60

Am I missing something here BadaBing? That story seems to indicate that the PLB saved him, and worked properly. You may want to go back and reread the story, and possibly edit your post.

The state of the diving tourism industry in Belize

I just dove with Hugh Parkey a couple weeks ago. We did not experience ANYTHING remotely like you describe. My wife and I were very happy with the operation, the dive profiles, and the safety/service overall. The issues that you bring up are very disconcerting and I wanted to mention that I dont...

BP/W - where to put the "stuff"

Why not?? those are not clips, those are quick links (look like a link of chain) they are closed and will not snag or come off. Tie wraps always fail. Please explain your concern with my set up. I would counter that I would NEVER use tie wraps on my gear, anywhere. They always fail. if one of...

Hero 2, what else to buy for it?

Hold off on the LCD "Bacpack" until the wifi backpack is released, in my opinion. I think its release is very soon, and you can get by without the backpack in the mean time. You absolutely must get a flat lens solution. Hands down the Snake River Prototyping is the superior solution in my...

BP/W - where to put the "stuff"

For carrying an SMB, and finger spool, I use the Dive-Rite SMB pouch, and I have it attached to the butt of my BP/W with quick links. This works great for me. Its out of the way until I need it. My cutting tools are on my harness belt. I use a canister light, and so there is not a lot more to...

    What's on Santa Rosa wall?

Was there a couple weeks ago for the first time.. One of the best dives of my life. This is a still image from my GoPro video shot at one of the swim throughs. Between the incredible visibility and the amount/diversity of marine life, as well as the cool swim thru's, I really enjoyed myself. So...

Red Filter - when to use, when not to?

I use the Bacpack. The display can remain active whether or not you are filming. However it cannot be installed under water. You must change your housing door (new door included with the bacpac) and it does make the camera a bit heavier and thicker.

GoPro - housing failure at depth & rubber bands??

I have personally had the latch flip open on me. Luckily I saw it as it was happening, and took corrective action. I have had a person on my boat actually flood one because of this issue. I have seen it happen with my own two eyes. I have bungee wrapped around my housing to hold the door shut...

    Weights for BP/W setup

I decided that these Dive-Rite ditchable pockets were perfect for me. They fit right on my waistband, and can be pushed all the way back against the plate, so you dont even really feel them there. They come in 16 and 32 lb max weight load. I went with the 16. I did consider the STA weight and...

Atomic Cobalt or Mares Icon HD

I really liked my Atomic Cobalt. I sold it because I needed a wrist mount computer, and I needed to be able to define and switch between more gases than the Atomic allows for. If Atomic were to release a wrist mount computer with the gas flexibility I described, I would strongly consider it. For...

Cruise ships and large lithium ion batteries

Greetings, Im about to embark on a cruise on Princess cruise lines, for a multi-day dive/cruise. I own a Light Monkey 50 watt HID dive light, which I obviously am very interested in bringing. It has a 20aH Li-Po Battery. I am curious if anyone has any experience bringing a canister light on...

How much Carbon in a tank is no good at 130 ft ???

I was reading this thread, and becoming very fascinated with the concept of "An acceptable level of CO" - I recently purchased an Analox CO tester, and so far the only thing that has registered any reading on it has been my breath, (documented way to test it) and my cars exhaust. I have probably...

    It's all over

It got very rough down in South Florida yesterday afternoon. All our divers were reporting "pregnant" (egg laden) momma lobsters being found, as well as shorts. I gave up after 5 mommas in a row. Was a great season this year. We had a lot of fun gathering up the bugs.
