A local eatery opened and being called the Shark Bite Grill they offered shark on the menu. It was a hit and they were filling seats and selling shark meat faster than bubbles float.
Many local divers contacted the owners and voiced a concern about the waning shark population and urging them...
I looked and did not see any SMB's or reels. I did get attacked by a trigger fish that hit me hard enough in the head to cause bleeding and dazed me for a second. Nasty little bugger
I spent three years in the joint counting people several times a day everyday. The "Headcount" is fast but grossly inaccurate. A Formal Roll call is the only way dive ops should make a count before motoring off. I do not know anything about this op or how it was done just posting my...
When i said I am not a master captain it was not a dig at you and more of a dequalifier for me. I am no captain whatsoever. What you describe is absolutley one of the ways it is done. I am against dropping a anchor actually onto a wreck any more than onto a reef for the same reasons. If...
Just read someone posted "Anchored right on.." I never realized how many boaters did not know the proper way to anchor up. While I am NOT a Master Captian by any means I'd point out to others the anchor is set way upcurrent from your target. You then let out line (scope) to your target. The...
Why more people do not hire a guide when diving a totally new enviorment is beyond my guesses. Recently there was a family diving in Jupiter. They obviously had just done one of those resort classes and could have used a professional dive guide for sure.
I do not disturb sleeping anythings. If something swims to me I have taken off my glove and reached out to everything that swims (except lionfish) at some point in my diving history. As long as you are not finning them or eating their soup you are aces with me as there are much greater threats...
Still beating up the SO for a act which I'd say was unethical but was not a infraction. As to this being a navigational channel it is a area between two land masses aka a "striaght" the sailboater can prove this area is known to have a higher clearance. He was running slowly through the area...
I found it interesting they are starting to hide. Before when I encountered them they not only hung out in the open on the reef but would turn to and face you totally unafraid. I am guessing they are getting skittish having divers poke at them in this area.
Two Lionfish yesterday in Jupiter Hid as I approached even more skitish then normal reef fishes would have. I waited one of them out. The other went into a 4-6"dia pipe on the Miss Jenny. The pipe had a hole about three feet down it and I stuck the spear tip in it carefully making a tiny...
Yep there were plenty on the wrecks in Jupiter. Once the bottom kicking bubble blowers left they started coming out of the engine room like a Circus Clown Car...
Whoops only ONE seat left on the afternoon boat the morning boat is still wide open with 20 seats though. This is normal as the boat mostly fills with women trying to spend a little time around me and they book the afternoon boat so they have time to look their best.
