BTW, liveaboards for a single traveler are good (I never pay a single supplement and get what I get). Traveling as a couple on a liveaboard is where you start paying more because the cost is per person. It's still worth it for the experience I get, essentially luxury service the whole time...
One thing to mention about paying the cost to just share a room on the liveaboard: if they have room, you get the room to yourself while still not paying the single supplement. That is a gamble but possible.
@Johnoly Certainly possible but I was thinking that Korea could be cold water so maybe plausible. Though it might read that way, my point wasn't so much they weighed him down as they sent him down with no training.
Safety rules loosely followed?! The owner of the company himself strapped a 26 lb belt on a kid who wasn't scuba certified which likely meant no experience at all and sent him 28 feet deep UNDER his boat to scrape barnacles off his boat. Anyone who has owned something defined as a yacht in the...
40m on a home built hookah. Wow.
I believe they mostly stopped diving in mangrove areas in Raja Ampat before I took a trip there due to croc encounters. However, my liveaboard did dive 1 day on the outskirts of an area of mangrove. I was more than vigilant. It's mighty dark looking into the...
Used to see posters location info, that they must have entered, under their picture.
It helped understand someone's experience or comments.
I don't see it anymore. I guess we lost that with the upgrade?
@BoundForElsewhere <<Heathrow with my bagpipes got guns leveled at me>> I think they knew they were bagpipes. :-) It's like the "use an accordian go to jail" bumper sticker.
I went there (the crater) as a snorkler many years ago before becoming a diver. Swells were pretty big so that I had to kick to keep on top of them. Then I put my mask on and saw this placid looking world underwater. But back on the surface had a lot of swell.
I have no idea about liveaboard trips available but can imagine "rainy season" in a place like Costa Rica will mean serious rain (probably unbelieveable amounts at times) and probably difficulty getting around the country to put it mildly.
A quick goggle brought up the site below showing that...
Hope you are driving the slow lane at below the limit DD, otherwise an accident might happen but you weren't in it.
Many people are excellent tailgaters but passing another car is enormously complex for them. Not your fault but it's reality. Also, tailgating someone in the slow lane doesn't...
No, no, vodka doesn't go in the freezer, it's 100 proof peppermint schnapps that goes in the freezer. With a bottle of root beer in the regular fridge to make mix in your mouth root beer schnapps that is way better than any root beer schnapps they sell.
But yeah, hydrate first after the dive...
Rented a nice looking beach house in Taveuni, Fiji with nice deck and lots of tropical fruit plants down to the beach.
Day 1 beautiful weather, enjoying the beach where you could see fish, eels and seasnakes.
Day 2 came out to cook breakfast and found the real "owner" of the house: A big...
I wear the blue disposable masks with the moldable nosepiece. They fog up my glasses less than the fabric mask because I can mold the nosepiece snug so less air can travel up toward my glasses.
Plus I have a box of them by the front door to grab on the way out instead of finding where the heck...
