Features for the next generation CCR?

handset controllers with integrated dive computers controllers would have a wireless option heads-up display in the mask ala Cochran full data logging ala Cis-Lunar MkVP in-the-housing counterlungs that are easily breathable so I can get all that clutter off my shoulders and front...

    Anal-retentive o-ring lubricating

Colleagues, I wanted to ask your opinions on a few things related to o-rings. Allow me to preface my question with the following observations. I have run into some who state that o-rings must be religiously cleaned of all foreign debris. I watched one CCR user use q-tips to clean the...

Air Travel with tanks post TSA

While I support giving our veterans preference in hiring due to their service to our Country, the whole notion that giving up my liberty for protection is a joke. The Government via TSA is a bunch of crap window dressing designed to lull ignorant idiots into thinking that if they give up...

    Stuart?

if my memory disserves me right, Stuart is the guy who designed he Phibian..... I think I might try to put a 90 degrees elbow on the left end side of the manifold bar to run up a hose for the ADV, and the slightly inboard back angled port, put a swivel 90 on it for the Viper hose. it appears...

    Stuart?

Joe, when you say Stuart, am I guessing Stuart Clough? I just got my Bob Howell DSV/OC with the slimline Viper second stage...what really nice workmanship...I think the only port left on the left side of the dil bar is that angled one most inboard, the outboard one on the very side of the bar...

    rebreathers

Kepu, I don't dive deep either, maybe 100 feet max, but I dive with my Inspiration also, and it has been extremeley reliable and stable. The Draeger is simplistic, and there are tons of used ones on E-Bay. For the other naysayers, I can kill myself in my car or if flying low in my sailplane...

So what is wrong with Oceanic regs?

My Omega is going on 20 years or whatever and the thing just breathes like a dream and has never given me any problems whatsoever.... I dive closed circuit rebreathers now but now and then I do open circuit withthe Omega.

Re: Possible CCR Rebreathers to look into???!!!

AP now has a type of DIN valve on the factory white dil and 02 cylinders that has a burst disc. As soon as I can I will be ordering Bob Howell's Inspiration mouthpiece with integral Dacor Viper second stage bailout that only requires one to rotate the rotator to bailout. There is now a...

    Inspiration OC/DSV & Scrubber

http://www.divenet.com/divematics/mouthpiece/ If I can get a reply out of Bob Howell, I am trying to order his DSV/ADV. I like the low profile of the second stage he uses, as well as the swivel feature to it. A radial Inspiration scrubber, eh? I always thought the Inspiration scrubber run...

Re: Possible CCR Rebreathers to look into???!!!

There has been over 5000 Inspiration units sold, so whatever you are reading is based upon it being far more used than any other rebreather. One of the things you will not see is number of accidents correlated to the number of units. You MUST take this into account. As an example jumbo jets are...

    What was this?

All you are the bomb. The links you provided sure steered me right. The Carribean link looked very close, it just lacked the faint orange non-bioluminescent dots over the outer body. You know, I have been diving for 30 years (started at 13) and this stuff fascinates me. Most divers I know...

    Help in locating a RB?

Unduh, Take a look at AP Valve's Evolution closed circuit rebreather. For those that want a small, compact, lighter weight rebreather but want all the advantages of a fully closed circuit rebreather with a good reputation, then the Evolution might be the answer for you. Scrubber time is...

looking for the name of a very simple rebreather

That is the Japanese Fieno made by Grand Bleu. It was pretty much discontinued just as it was introduced. You had to send the unit back to the factory to change the scrubber. It uses a 40% nitrox mix. If you want a nice small unit, get an AP Evolution.

    Hello from the UK

I have a 3 or 4 Nemesis photos I took at Dema. One thing I do not like about the Azimuth CCR versionis a lack of dual redundant controllers like on my Inspiration.

    What was this?

Was at Santa Rosa Island off California the other day and I was hanging on the anchor line doing a safety stop after about an hour or so at 70 feet. The water was somewhat dirty with flotsam and jetsam streaming past me quite fast. Out of the blue I see this critter that is about 8" tall with...

    Cis-Lunar, MK15, MK 15.5

Hootis, Ever since 7th grade when I found a photo of a Beckman Electrolung, I had to have a close circuit rebreather. I had already been diving open circuit for a year at that time. 30 years later, Dave Thompson, Martin Parker and the crew and collaborators with AP Valves and has made...
