    Regulator setup for doubles...

Daniel, I think you misunderstood my reference to being a cave diver. I wasn't trying to get into a pissing contest with you. Obviously you have far more experience than I do. I was stating how limited my background is.. I am only a cave diver and so the typical cave diving hose routing is...

    Regulator setup for doubles...

Ah, if he just wants to dive doubles to be diving doubles, no need to sign up for a class. I also think a class is the last place to be learning to dive a new rig. It may take 10 or more dives for some people to get comfortable in doubles (or 10 mins depending on the person). I wouldn't want...

    Regulator setup for doubles...

Roll off/on is where your valves come in contact with the ceiling (cave, wreck, whatever). The left post will want to turn off (roll off), the right post will want to turn on (roll on). As far as breathing from the LP inflator, it's a skill that takes practice but the idea is that you press...

    Regulator setup for doubles...

Btw, for some reason nomenclature in scuba seems to change when you start diving doubles or doing more advanced diving. What you used to call a valve becomes a post.. unless its on a single cylinder or deco bottle then its still a valve. A tank is only a tank when its worn on the back or...

    Regulator setup for doubles...

Ok, here's how many people rig it. On the left post (when you're wearing your rig, the post behind your left shoulder), you will have your backup 2nd stage which goes behing you neck and sits on a necklace, a SPG (only 1 needed), and your drysuit inflation if applicable. On the right post you...

    I need moral support

Oh, here's one about a buddy of mine. I'm sure he won't mind. Again, this is during full cave. We're heading into P-III. I'm leading; Bob, let's call him, is in the middle and Sam, let's say, is in the rear. Now, P-III is a real silt hole and Mike, our instructor, mentions in the breifing...

    I need moral support

This isn't from a DIR class and I can't believe I'm posting this but it will definitely give you a chuckle. I'm in advanced nitrox/deco (taking it with full cave). We're playing around in the Orange Grove basin doing bag work. So now it's my turn. I pull out my safety reel and my bag. My...

    13 cuft tank

I'm not sure if a 13CF is big enough to rig like a stage but that sounds like what you are looking for. http://dir-diver.com/en/equipment/stagebottle_rigging.html Typically the bottle will be slung on the left, not the right.

Jet Fins & Converse Chuck Taylors

I wear a 14 in DUI rock boots and XXL jets are perfect. My usual dive buddy I think wears a 10 or so and he wears Turtles with his (he wears XL Jets with wetsuit boots). I think XL OMS slipstreams fit him as well if you want something a little lighter.

    Fin Choice

I use XXL Jets in my drysuit and XL OMS Slipstreams (lightweight Jet fin clones) when I'm diving wet.

Would you buy from this company (Salvo)

There's a difference between crying that it's immoral and supporting a boycott of the company and saying "man, I really wish I hadn't of seen that". If salvo wants to put a naked dude on their site, I wouldn't be offended; I just wouldn't want to see it.

Would you buy from this company (Salvo)

And of all the things to express moral outrage over we get a 12 page thread over a naked woman wearing a backplate?? If you really find it so offensive, don't look at it. I would also suggest you re-evaluate where you spend your moral "energy". I don't see many people expressing this kind of...

    CLX 450 or CF200X???

I would definitely go with the CLX450. The drying time of the 200 has been a real issue for me not because of the weight and traveling but drysuits aren't always dry. For example, you have a fold in your neckseal or you manage to do something with your hand that cracks your wrist seal. The...

    Cf200

I have a CF200, my next suit will be a TLS350. I think the 50/50 is the worst of both worlds. If you want durability and short drying times, get a CLX450.

    Which tank is best?

The only reason the AL80 is popular is price. Steel will last longer and has better buoyancy characteristics. The difference between LP and HP steel is nothing more than the rated pressure. A LP108 is pretty much the same tank in size and weight as an HP130 (the 108 is slightly bigger but not...

    Cheapest place in Dallas?

My mother got her OW with Arlington Scuba. During her checkout dives, the DM was pulling her through the water by her octopus. When I first dove with her after her OW, she was absolutely terrified. It took 20 or so dives before she had anything resembling comfort in the water. She dropped...
