someone mentioned it- 80% isnt as effective if needed to
a) offgas
b) feed your ccr if needed
c) provide a good gas if you haver a DCS problem
versus
making your gas cover a slightly wider range while carrying the disadvantages of abc
I like doing the occasion video or photo shoot - i ether do it solo or make sure the person im with is happy to follow along or be a model - if they dont no problem il go solo or find someone else.
What really gets me riled up however is divers with camera rigs that assume its all about them -...
I do most of my dives on ccr back mount (rEvo)
if im going on cave trip or I have a specific dive that the back mount isn't suitable I use OC sidemount
-before the trip ill go spend 6 or so dives on OC in local lake to get into it again

just to follow up on this - i recently flew through Brisbane airrport in Australia and without this letter from Qantas i would not that have got my batteries through- on that trip I went through 4 other airports without problem - dont assume the security staff at the airports are up to speed...

if your deep in a cave with 2-3 people and someone has a problem - you can each donate (lets say 50 bar each while still retaining their 1/3s) while in an easy spot so that the person who has a problem can exit more easily later on (or go through a tight spot on their own )
my suggestion is rather them looking at it from a weight point of view look at it from a support point of view

He might have reacted like that because he felt he was made to look incompetent and not managing the group he was with -well tough luck it sounds to me that the group was only a few moments away from a total cluster f**k
