    Houston area dive shops?

Wow, looked at my old area where I used to live in Houston (77077), no scuba shops are near by anymore. Now I learn 288 is closed. Well, I guess I left just in time.

So, lake 288 closed? What happened.

I just learned lake 288 in Houston is closed. What happened? Looked at some recent pics, they laid a paved road nearby to the lake there where people parked. Now there is a fence. Was it a loss of parking space? I also noticed some new development nearby in the direction of the beltway.

    Vibratory tumbler for regulator parts

That ebay item is a scam. It is a new account and is made to separate you from your money. Cheap people pay twice. Once for a cheap unrealistic price. Secondly, for a normally priced item. PS: If you want a cheaper alternative, you can buy just the "speaker" part, one that does vibrations and...

Found a great way to stitch the heaviest of nylon webbing for cheap

Generally people are using block magnets on the surface near the needle to keep a custom spacing and feed the material straight. Kind of a clamp, of sorts, to edge the material against. Reminds of a table saw method. Generally it requires a non-magnetic bobbin, the magnet can affect its position...

Found a great way to stitch the heaviest of nylon webbing for cheap

I ordered exactly this one due to higher number of reviews, hoping that the seller is more likely to help in case the item doesn't arrive as expected: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07427C19T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 But, as I stated above, they are all generic and...

Found a great way to stitch the heaviest of nylon webbing for cheap

I received it yesterday, did a sample run, all good! Now need to build a base, as one it comes with is crap. For this price I am very content with the purchase. Other than its wild look, it works. I'll need to experiment with needle sizes and threads. But doing a square with an "X" in it, no...

$275 DIY Hookah System w/2 Lines

I'd be scared having AC voltage driven power tools next to a body of water you are submerged in.

Found a great way to stitch the heaviest of nylon webbing for cheap

So, I am into a phase of making my own lightweight sidemount harnesses. And there is a certain way I like them and it requires stitching webbing together in some parts. Same goes about making my own scooter harness and etc. I tried doing it by hand with a hand sewing awl. It is a manual heavy...

Hooked at 100 feet - Lulu wreck, Alabama

I like these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00JX06FX4/ They don't rust much, you can apply many times more force than with EMS shears. These are way, way better built and the screw holding blades does not fail like with EMS shears. If you still like EMS style, consider...

Hooked at 100 feet - Lulu wreck, Alabama

Problem with a line cutter, you need to catch the line and feed it to the blade. If it is a "**** hitting a fan" situation, the adrenaline, trembling hands, and line positioning might not make a line cutter to be the best tool in this particular situation. The line cutter is better for a line in...

    Night dreams and missing equipment

Not sure if it is a common occurrence, thus asking here. This is my actual check off list for boat excursions: The boat diving list And this is for the shore diving: The shore diving list At night when I dream, some very rare dreams are about scuba, yet, I always miss some required equipment...

Cleaning Rust from a steal tank.

    >> What you should should have said was that you were attempting to make a word play between a scuba tank and a type of ammunition. No I shouldn't because that would not be true. >> you're showing a combination of ignorance, arrogance, and rudeness. I'll take arrogance and rudeness. But how...

So, what you are saying is that under no circumstance that o-ring can leak?

Cleaning Rust from a steal tank.

Specs are binary. Either the thread can hold the valve well or it can't. If it can't hold the valve at pressure, you'll see leaks of all kinds of severity. Place the tank under water, does it bubble from under o-ring?

Cleaning Rust from a steal tank.

Well, threads are the thinnest pieces on the tank. If rust starts to form, it can easier than anywhere else destroy a scuba tank. With "chewed" threads, the air might bubble out from under the valve. While occasional rust is ok on scuba tank and it can be cleaned, the threads are the most...

Cleaning Rust from a steal tank.

Yes, a sabot is a tank killer, penetrates armor on a direct hit due to its projectile, kills tanks just as a rust on scuba tank's threads. I was making a literary rhetorical technique called metaphor comparing the two. The sentence about the dust settling was another literary device called...

Cleaning Rust from a steal tank.

No, with a reference to a sabot I was making a word play between a scuba tank and a military vehicle. Please keep up.
