    Dive Alabama/Pelham- Logistics?

And if all goes well, we shall see if I'm still capable of the feat next weekend!

    Dive Alabama/Pelham- Logistics?

It's totally doable...there's a walking path that runs down the hill as well as the main stairs...the walking path is sooooo much easier than hoofing your doubles up the stairs. If you can cave dive with those buggers, you can make it in and out of the water at Blue Water :D

For Sale: 2009 Sierra X scooter

Purchased used in February 2010. The previous owner used it about 50x in salt water...I've used it maybe 10x in fresh water. There's wear and tear expected for age, but nothing too dramatic or that affects functionality (mainly a few scrapes and paint peeling on the nose of the scooter). The...

    2009 Sierra X-Scooter

Great scooter, but since I started college, I'm not diving nearly as much as I used to, and it's just taking up space. Was purchased used in early 2010. The previous owner stated he used it about 50x, and it worked fine. I've used it about 20x in fresh water, and haven't had any problems so...

    first deco dive

Yeah...that's what I've been doing lately...works much better than hearing the Duo go "beep, beep, beep" for half my deco :cool2:

    first deco dive

Depending on the deco algorithm used by your computer, the "one min at half max depth" may cause the computer to accrue more deco (or could clear it completely). When running my VR3 (VPM-B algorithm) vs my Nitek Duo (Bulhmann) side by side.... I'd be clearing deco on my VR3 during a computer...

    Losing regulator

Personally, I like having my backup bungeed right by my chin...checking that it's in place and accessible is part of my predive check, and it's kind of comforting to know that my alternate is just inches from my mouth should the feces hit the oscillating device. However, whichever method you...

DiveCaves.com | NAUI Cave 1 Course - Rich Courtney's Diving Blog and Cave Training / Technical Training Information The standards appear to be: NDL 2 navigational decisions (jumps or tees, I guess?) Up to 1/3 of gas And the prereqs appear to be: AOW Nitrox Intro to Tech (or equivalent) at...

    NAUI Cave I course?

I don't know about you, but cave diving is encoded into my DNA :D The double helix is actually cave line!

Surface oxygen and CNS O2 toxicity

hmmm...I vaguely recall a diver telling me a couple of years ago, that I needed to keep track of my oxygen exposure...and if I'm diving hyperoxic mixes, that I needed to be wary of running up my "oxygen clock" for fear of winding up with pulmonary oxygen toxicity if hyperbaric tx was required. I...

    first deco dive

OP, I noticed you are from Alabama. Feel free to PM me, and we'll go diving sometime at ABWA or Vortex, and I'll show you what I do to safely plan and execute deco dives...it'll give ya some food for thought about running a decompression obligation on your computer. Rita

You might be a redneck diver if...

If you own camouflage dive gear If your dive truck doubles as a hunting truck during deer season. If you bought all your gear by trading in an old shotgun at the local pawn shop. If your dive boat is really just an old bass boat with a barely working trolling motor. If the cow watering pond...

Body check when you are on a single tank and your buddy on doubles

Just a thought: Odds are, the doubles diver won't have any removable weights (such as a weight belt, or integrated weights), since, for most double-cylinder divers, the tanks are heavy enough, and no additional weight is usually needed. Might be something worth asking your buddy about... In...

    General Vortex Incident Discussion

"Save people from making mistakes?" Uh, where were you when I racked up thousands of dollars in credit card debt at age 18? I sure could have used someone to save me from my mistakes back then ;) People are free to make their own choices...all we can do is present the facts and allow them to...

    Double Tank Size

I started off with Worthington 85's but they were a bit heavy in the water, and didn't have enough gas for thirds with my bigger cylindered buddies, so I traded them for Faber 95's. I love them for backmount, but they really sucked as a sidemount cylinder...got way too butt-light at the end of...
