An easy way to tell is by what is on the baggage strap placed on the bag at the original airport. If both the AA and KX flight numbers are on the strap that bag will transfer automatically. If it is just the AA flight number, you must pick it up in Mia.

AFAIK You need to pick up your checked baggage in MIA and take it to the Cayman Airways counter, unless American code shares with Cayman Airways and the flights are both on one ticket. Either way, you will have to go through security again once you leave the American concourse.

Carole, FWIW the Cressi regs are good, but not particularly popular in the US. Of the 3 you mention, I would take the Aqualung Core, which is a gussied up Titan LX, even if I had to pay a bit more. You might want to check price at a couple of other Aqualung shops (there are tons of them).
