Pockets - these seem a worthless option

I've been through two+ wet suits and a dry suit before buying a DUI custom at this weeks LDS Scuba Fair (20% OFF). The rep that fitted me asked 3 times if I wanted options including pockets. I had to stop and cell phone a friend/Long time DUI diver and ask about the pockets - they seem like...

    DUI stock sizing question

At this last weeks LDS SCuba Fair, the DUI rep fit me into a suit and said I was borderline; I confirmed it with 3 other LDS staff, each independently. After thinking about my goals, I 'm looking for 10 years and 1000+ dives as my target use and went for a DUI custom suit, and it ended up...

Suunto D9/D6 difference? Also Batt change?

I got to Demo both at this last weekend's Scuba fair and the D6 is a lower profile, but still on par with a large size watch. The LDS rep said that Suunto is giving away three free battery changes to buyers.

Suunto D9/D6 difference? Also Batt change?

I've started looking at computers again and See Suunto has a new D6 but can't see the difference between the D9 without transmitter, except the D6 is a lower price. Is it a repackage to help avoid the bad reputation from two D9 safety recalls? Smaller packaging size? Titanium vs...

    Wakatobi, Woooohooo!

There are pros and cons to all destinantions. One barometer is how long the staff stay there, Wakatobi has an amazingly high turnover rate. For example, that Grand bungalow was constructed the the Scandanavian chef for his personal residence. Lorenz sacked him and stole the cottage to turn...

    Wakatobi Dive Resort

Went in 2003 and was grossly dissappointed, see other posts here. Try The North Sulawesi area for twice the sealife, superior staff, expert guides/spotters for photographers and fewer bent divers. Go to the Tech section that discusses the bad air quality we had and Lorez Maeder's...

Any dive operators to San Juans for a Saturday trip

I'd like to dive in the San Juans on a Saturday, what is your favorite boat to do this? Thank you, I've already gathered this (below) as info.

Pacific Northwest Divers, add your favorite dive spots

I was hoping to fond some good recommendations of boats that service the San Juan Islands for weekend dive trips - single day is preferred, but I'm flexible

    Is HD really here yet?

I'm coming off of an 8 year UW film photog habit and not convinced the UW digital still is for me, but looking into Video. Is HD video stable enough were I to buy top of the line equipment and not regret it in 2 years? I've heard the 1080i vs 720p debates so thought I should ask - possibly...

    Ocean Rover in Sulawesi

I was just at KBR last month and they rotate their DM days on a strict schedule so that no DM has continuous exposure

    Richelieu Rock question

Songkran is actually my worst (least desireable) Thai festival as the younger generation is getting very aggressive throwing water. But, you got to see it for yourself... As said above - day trips are possible to Richielieu Rock but involve 1.5+ hour drive from/to the Kata area to Thap...

Traing in Thailand ... any experience/advice?

I have been with John Williams and Bent Posejpal diving on 3 vacations to Thailand since 1996 and they are top notch. Can't say enough about their standards and morals. Keep in mind that many dive shops in Thailand come and go quickly, so 9 years is truly exceptional.

    Wakatobi, Woooohooo!

KBR pros: Cheaper, more numerous and easier to find unusual critters, larger variety of dive sites, Better food, better dive staff, better land staff, better photo opportunities, more flexibility on lengths of stay. Wakatobi pros: better house reef (even without big fish), prettier location...

    Ocean Rover in Sulawesi

I was also at both KBR and on the Ocean Rover in June and agree with what you say. Another difference was that KBR does not permit wearing gloves and OR permits it. I don't see why KBR has this restriction, seems a bit too much considering the diving area. KBR's muck diving meant that many...

Manado - Tasik Ria - Eco Divers

I was just there and Tasik Ria has great diving with a low guide to diver ratio (once I saw two guides with a single diver), The guides are very helpful in showing you fantastic creatures that you might have never seen on your own. Tasik Ria/froggies/Manado is on the West Side of N Sulawesia...

    Manado/Lembeh - Resort or Liveaboard

I was just at KBR for a week and then on the Ocean Rover for 10 days through the North Sulawesi Islands. KBR/Lembeh straits offer great diving at great prices. The Ocean Rover is my favorite Asian live aboard, but there were restrictions between rival tribes in the North and we deviated to...

    Wakatobi Wannabe with a twist

Matthew Heddrick is theowner of the Pelagian and I first dove with him in 1996 on his original boat. He is a safety conscious person and an excellent skipper, I wouldn't hesitate to dive with him or his crew. I was dissappointed at the variety of diving at Wakatobi 2 years ago when I...

Manado - Tasik Ria - Eco Divers

Tasik Ria is excellent! Met the GM at KBR when I stayed there last month and went on Ocean Rover so had a chance to dive the Tasik Ria house reef.
