certification limits and how they are considered now days....

It seems like there are a lot of convoluted answers to a pretty basic question. The depths for Open Water, Advanced and Deep Diver (all Recreational dives) are recommendations from the agencies. There is reasoning and some logic (and idiot proofing) behind the recommendations. New divers have...

Info Why are tables not taught in OW classes anymore?

We teach tables for all our Open Water Classes. This is a segue into a thorough presentation and discussion on dive computers. Kind of like having a basic understanding of math before using a calculator. The students are also taught that as long as they record all their dives, they can switch to...

Question At what age can a kid start diving

Pressure, N2, prudent decision making, real awareness of consequences, ability to fall back to training and protocols to deal with problems, etc.. there are a lot if questions without absolute answers. When dive planning, too many questions without answers and a solid plan, means don’t do the...

    Molokini Backwall or Carthinigian Wreck?

You can hear the whale songs clearly at the Carthaginian too. There are some frogfish who’ve made a home there. The dives are very different. Both are good. I think I prefer the Carthaginian

Question Teric versus Perdix 2 for Recreational Diver

LOL! Just bought that Perdix 2 for my wife. Hasn't been in the water yet. My old Perdix isn't looking too good, but it works great. The Teric in the photo has over 800 dives on it!

Girl dead, boy injured - Lake McDonald, Glacier National Park

Hopefully discussion on this incident will not go away. We have had incredible discussions here, over the years, but this one is so bad that it needs to used to teach and to prevent another incident like it from ever happening again. I wonder if multiple dive accident cases were reopened, we...

Question Practicing Out Of Air ascent: good idea, or bad idea ?

I don't believe that practicing skills correctly is a bad thing. However, after doing well over a thousand CESAs in my teaching career, I'd prefer NOT to do them. If you want to practice without risk, try doing it positively buoyant on the surface and swim horizontally. Mimic releasing air...

    RMO Roll Call

There are still a few active members from that list. I am only occasionally on SB, but some others like RedDiver970 are fairly active. I’m busy actually diving or teaching diving most of the time these days. We have dive events at Aurora Res, Carter Lake and Horsetooth, as well as an evening...

    Rocky Mountain Diving

That’s strange, my post was included in your quote. I’ll copy it below: Hi John! Well, since I was the first to reply to your thread 15 years ago, I suppose I’ll be the first one 15 years later! Those were fun days! It’s been quite a journey since then. Diving has been interesting this year...

    April 1st Aurora Res Dive

Just finished a fun dive at Horsetooth. Vis was about 10’. Water was 53° down to thermocline at 40’. Then temp dropped to 46°. Need to call the Ranger Station business office and let them know that you are going to dive. Bring a dive flag and be prepared to fly it. Let me know if you want...

    April 1st Aurora Res Dive

Better call the parks and rec Dept and confirm that they are open for diving. We tried to go last week, and Aurora Reservoir was no longer open for diving! I think they were planning to re-open June 1st. Maybe they bumped that date up a bit. Vis is really good at Horsetooth right now though. We...

D5 or Teric - convince me

I sell both at our store. We have had great luck with Suunto. They are reliable, tough, and internationally very popular. With that said, however, I dive with Shearwater computers, as does most of our staff! The Teric is incredible. Bright, bold and sexy. The Perdix is a tough and reliable...

Quiz - Skills & Environment - Diving at Altitude

With many hundreds of dives at altitude over the last 20 years, and having taught thousands of students at altitude, as well as teaching the Altitude Specialty for many many years, the correct answer to the quiz is B. As to the discussion about Narcosis at Altitude: 100' FW exerts less...

You attach the unit in your photo to the adapter using the brass handwheel, and then slip the yoke over your tank valve and tighten as you would tighten your 1st stage. Make sure regulator pressure on their delivery system is set at 3000 psi, and then fill slowly.
