    For you CAD users

Couldn't tell ya as I'm still USING R14... Just so I don't forget how as I don't use it at all as a unix sysadm. I'm currently puzzling out 3D parts for a video camera housing I've been considering building lately... ;)

To the tune of the themesong of the "Welcome Back Kotter" TV show "Welcome Back" by John Sebastian In honor of the new scubaboard site layout... -------------------------------- Welcome back, Your dives were your ticket out. Welcome back, To that same old place that you laughed...

    Hello Polly, Polly Parrot???

Yes, the Fjords! It's the only place to find really good coconuts... Well, it's Mercia actualy, but... You have to know these things when you're a king, you know.

    The PADI ascent order

Yep, Like I said, I only tried it with ill-fitting, borrowed equipment. I'll try putting both stages to the left next time I do a dive with 2 and see how it goes. Edit --- I will say, that I am very comfortable diving with a bottle on each side in my current setup and have no...

    The PADI ascent order

Well... Swiming in circles for one thing. Put 2 or more on my left side and I'm a "nascar" diver (I tried this and didn't like it one bit)... Hmm... I do have to admit that I tried that with a borrowed backplate that was setup for someone smaller than me so the stage tanks hung at an...

    BSAC 2003 Incident reports

Sorry for the delay. Had to reinstall XP (very long story...) Anyway. Here's the pic I mentioned in the post above. I lightened it and outlined the eel on the right half. http://hometown.aol.com/dc4bs/images/eel.jpg

    Loosing watches

The bigest difference with the frogman is that the buttons are protected so it's really hard to push them by accident. It's almost annoying to push them when you want to sometimes but I'm getting used to it now... I'm prety sure the Timex buttons got pushed at depth by the watch pressing up...

    equipment configuration

My buddy and I usualy dive double 80s. We have taken the manifolds and bands on 2 trips now and used them with rental tanks (cleared it with the dive operation before we went). It doesn't take much room or weight in the luggage. That was used up by the 2 AL40s we each brought since the...

    Loosing watches

Hehe... So far, the only watch I've "lost" diving is a timex that was supposed to be water resistant to 100 meters. It wasn't... It didn't flood completely but it fogs up now at quick temperature changes. I figgure that little bit of salt water in there is doing wonders for the...

    BSAC 2003 Incident reports

I'll try to remrmber to post the pic I got this past weekend off Ft Lauderdale when I get home from work. We were diving from the Ocean Explorer from Friday to Sunday. www.oceanexplorercharters.com It's of my buddy checking out the bow cargo area of a wreck at 80 fsw or so. About 2...

I know this is a total newbie question BUT...

Prety much. 1: You can make a single dive for a longer time on a given nitrox mix than on air at the same depth because there is less nitrogen in each breath to absorb. If you normaly breath down your tank before you reach the NDLs on air then nitrox won't help you make dive times longer -...

    Equipment redundancy

Hi Mike, I agree with you on the SPG transmitters. What do you think of the Cressi mini-consoles? http://www.cressisubusa.com/cressius2003/cat.asp?lan=uk&idc=7 There are 3 versions. 1: an SPG. 2: an SPG and depth guage. 3: an SPG, depth guage and compass. The 3rd one is only...

Water alone won't keep you well hydrated, will it?

I've been there myself. I spent a year and a half doing carpentry / construction. When we did roofing in the summer, it was incredible how much water I could go through in an afternoon. I used to bring a gallon of water and a 2 liter gatorade to work each day and then ended up drinking...

Water alone won't keep you well hydrated, will it?

A small part of this may be because when you introduce a blob of very cold water/drink into your stomach, your body then has to "warm it up"... This burns up energy/resources better spent keeping you cool and the end result is a higer core temp, not lower. By drinking "room temperature"...

what do you get when fast-current meets lines and lobster traps?

To quote Eddie Murphy in 'Golden Child'. "I want, I want, I want... I want the knife."

    DM protecting weight belts?

One Cayman trip, I simply rented weights for the whole week of my trip from one shop. Then dove with several different operations on the island. It only cost a few dolars (much cheaper than overweight baggage fees) and I never had to "dig" in the weight bin on a given boat to find the right...

    Macaws????

[ I just remembered one of her best songs. To the tune of "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba... "My stock went down, (but it went up again! I hope it never goes down again!)" She only sings the first 4 words but she does it well. Sometimes she just says "Stock down! Up down!" as well...

    DM protecting weight belts?

I've never been on a diveboat that had weightbelts "pre-set". I've only ever seen a milk crate or similar full of wights and a bunch of empty weight belts. You just grab what you need and put it together for your dives and then put it back how you found it afterwords... Simple. I suppose...

    Macaws????

She doesn't do Margaritaville as far as I know but se does sing "Stars on the water" Well, she eventualy made up her own word here and contracted it to just saying "Stawter...." sometimes as well. If you knock on a table or the wall a couple times like druming, she'll say "Babalooooo..."...
