    New gear set up!

If you like it, everything fits well, and you feel you got a good price then you did good :) However, I would have skipped the fancy snorkel (you are scuba diving after all), and the split fins. There is nothing wrong, just personal taste. Also make sure you try to suck your mask to your face...

    Buying a BC: questions.

In before Backplate and wing. Seriously, I would not put any normal jacket bc as 3x better than any other. So the real question to you is the "cool i3" system worth $300? I would say no. but I also ended up with a back inflate as my first bc.

'Trim' issues with steel tanks and warm water diving

hmm, when I dove my steel 130 on my zeagle with about 6-8 lbs in SE FL the only issue I had was the tank moved a lot on my bcd, and that made it almost feel like that. Are you feeling your BCD shift, and that is taking you with it? I fixed it by snugging the hell out of my adjustment straps...

    Diving with Mike Nelson

I find when the kit is at ground level, and there is no place to prop it up, it is way easier to don it over head than trying to slip into it. Just check behind you first :)

    Nice knife for diving?

I have been diving this for a number of years now Amazon.com: Aquatec T-Rex Titanium Dive Knife: Sports & Outdoors But lately I have found myself using a pair of emt sheers instead. They travel better because places like cruise ships tend to find knives a bit taboo. sea snips cutting tool...

Recommndation for BC well suited for plane travel

Traditional: Zeagle Wicked Lite http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/content/284-zeagle-s-new-wicked-lite-bcd.html While I haven't used this one, look it freak folds into the palm of your hand! My top Recomendation: a backplate and wing. There are lot of ultra compact, light travel back plates. I...

Best overall jacket style BCD- Scubapro vs. Oceanic vs. Bare

I have to ask this question. How intent are you on a jacket style? I see that you are new, have you ever tried a back inflate? (I am skipping the backplate plate and wing part for now.) I know I found diving a back inflate a night and day difference to a standard jacket style. Also, because...

Need help/opinions for first dive kit

Gunkter, Assuming you are diving AL 80's that you rent, and aren't moving up to your own tanks yet, you could get away with a 25-35lb wing. Something like a dive rite travel wing, or Voyager wing. The wing will come with an inflator, and at least mine came with a new hose to connect to the...

    Dangerous Situations!!

It doesn't look like he has a flag. His right hand is full with his spear gun, his left with a camera. When he looks up and follows his boat to the left, you would expect to see a line to his flag, if he had one, and was carrying it with his left hand. Also I don't see any evidence of a flag...

BC Selection for warm, travel: Educate and Opinions

First off, back inflate is the way to go. I like you hated the squeeze the rental gear was giving me when I first started, so I went with a Zeagle Ranger. I have since lost 30 lbs, and needed something smaller, so I went with a back plate and wing. Think of it as a do it yourself BC, that you...

Why do we hate the Air2?

Whatever you decide to use, just do everyone a favor and practice with it first. My first and only experience with an inline octo was during my rescue course. The person I was budded with had been using his Air 2 for years, but apparently never practiced with it. I discussed it with him...

    Shore diving safety?

Have you ever pulled a flag before? The flag itself can be a pain in the water, I couldn't imagine a raft attached to it.

    Jacket style vs rear inflate

I found the back inflate bc way more comfortable underwater, and didn't squeeze me on the surface. jacket styles when inflated tended to want to put me vertical in the water column, going with a back inflate puts the entire bladder behind you (and hence above you when diving) which makes it...

    Scuba Chat Error

The demo link? no. It takes you into a demo chat room. but I am the only one there, so for all I know it is just a client dummy that doesn't connect to a real server. Ok...I stand corrected a user xyz logged in beeped at me and logged out. so it is a real server, and I can indeed log into it...

so I have been having the same error, but only from work, from home I am ok. So I went over to Java Chat Software - AddonChat like was mentioned, and figured hey maybe it is a port thing. so I hit up their demo, and walla, unless it is a fake simulation I can log in there, and chat with myself.
