    Diving NJ after Sandy ...

I would try giving a few places a call, I drive past Aardvark in brick frequently, but the times I do they are usually closed. They may still be without power though. I don't have high hopes for Atlantic Spear and Scuba in Point Pleasant Beach being open but again I would suggest calling. This...

    Diving NJ after Sandy ...

I'm going to try and head out into the local rivers once things around the first aid squad slow down a little and can post a review/video. Granted it'll be shore dives, not sure what access is going to be like at the local inlets. I was out with the squad during the storm and after and saw a lot...

    Light advice

Many LED Lenses are solid lenses such that the lens acts as a fiber optic rather than a reflector. At least that's the way the lens in my light is. The downside to that is they arn't adjustable without replacing the lens. Pros to LED are they aren't as fragile as HID either, LEDs last longer, I...

Fish at Ponquoge Bridge on 8-4-12...What are they?

I've had them under by boat many many times when fishing off Pt. Pleasant, Seagirt and so on. Actually almost always spotting them swimming about the outboard. Always just assumed they were pilot fish, guess I was wrong

    Surface Pressure Monitor

I have a hard enough time maintaining a connection from the transmitter to the wrist computer separated by only a few feet, I could only imagine the issues arising from any decent distance

Article: Drysuits - Neoprene v. Fabric - Which is Best?

As a person diving the Everdry 4 (roughly a dozen dives on it), I believe it's a compressed, not crushed. Though the suit is excellent, very flexible, fit's like a glove, and in 40 degree water i've been wearing a thin fleece shirt, sweatpants and wool socks. Warm for an hour although this was...

When can you start diving wet at Dutch Springs?

If you time it correctly with tides as well, there are some decent areas of NJ were you can get some shore diving done with little effort as well.Though some of the areas I do recommend finding someone familiar with the area, plus those dives are free and there are local shops that can rent/fill...

When can you start diving wet at Dutch Springs?

I've done wet to the pumphouse, but that was later in the season and only about a 30 minute dive. It gets cold quick

    Dive Light

Alright, so I finally have some video, it was taken in 1080P and uploaded to youtube. However, keep in mind the camera was mounted to the back of my hand and I was somewhat working at collecting fishing sinkers during the dive so some points of the video are quite shaky. Video was taken by the...

Island Beach State Park - North Jetty

Thanks for the info, exactly what i was looking for. Only reason I thought of diving it, i have the truck pass for the beach (though have to renew it) and a 4x4 so it's easily accessible to me. I was mostly concerned with the ocean side, north jetty. Preferably around the submerged section. Was...

Island Beach State Park - North Jetty

Anyone know what the dive conditions average there? I've been playing with the idea of heading out to try and dive the inlet at IBSP, I have a truck pass for fishing the beach so getting there is the easy part, I just don't feel like dragging everything out there for a poor dive. Anyone know...

can you do diving in NJ in Jan ? any good shops or teacher's near trenton

You mightbe able to stand the water temps with the semi-dry, for a few minutes anyway. But when you get out of the water and get confronted with 20 degree F temps you'll be wishing you chose not to dive.

can you do diving in NJ in Jan ? any good shops or teacher's near trenton

You can but it'll be cold. I hope you'd be diving a drysuit. I don't know about shops in the trenton area, but i'm almost positive some shops in the shore area do still go out on the few boats that may still be running. Best bet is call them. I'm typically done diving come Oct/Nov

November 12 at Dutch Springs, PA

I will likely be out there all day saturday, trying to get 2 dives in, I can ask the guy i'm going with if he minds. We'll probably setup in the area near the Aqua Park. If you want let me give him a call and i'll find out. If all else fails i'll send you my cell number in pm and if you go and...

    Dive Light

It is quite an impressive LED, however I am working with the local shop to try and get a video of it in use. There should be a dive coming up in which there could be the possibilty of the video. I will admit the only thing I am unsatisfied with is with how concentrated the beam is. It is...
