No jacket required~ BP setup help

So I thought I may look at it. diving in a 7mm neoprene dry, I doubt the feel wil make any diff, but since I expect recovery to be a fair part of my diving activity.....makes sense to have a place to keep it. Guess based on the replies, I may just do the pioneer for now, and move to the...

No jacket required~ BP setup help

I stumbled across this : a 36lb MC System is 430.00 complete, and asked: When you say an MC system complete, what are you considering complete? I'm looking to change out my back inflate BC for a BP/Wing setup. and got the response: When I say complete, I mean the whole...

No jacket required~ BP setup help

I though I remember uncle pug referring to his as a keel wieght, but same thing conceptually. I'm a bit of a tinkerer, and pretty handy around the shop. 25 years in construction and racing cars kind of helps in that department. In general, seem like the BP/wing is very adaptable to slight...

No jacket required~ BP setup help

The reg first stage is a 300 bar DIN, and it came with the yoke adapter. Whatever I buy will most likely be DIN equipped. The yoke adapter can be used with the standard K valve found just about everywhere. Makes it easy to go on vacation.

No jacket required~ BP setup help

Yeah, one of the first thing I verify when I order anything. Was looking at getting the bands with the plate & harness form Gary if I go that route. Seemed pretty reasonably priced, and most of the posts I've seen says he good to work with. I'm figuring on trying to set it up so I have a...

No jacket required~ BP setup help

Slim chance of that. If I'm in warm water, it's probably going to be on vacation, with 3mm FJ/Shorty, rented single AL80s. Hauling steel tanks on a plane isn't really an option. Maybe I'll keep my recon for that. It is pretty comfortable and stable with a single AL80. Of course, compared to...

No jacket required~ BP setup help

Please don’t turn this into a BP v. jacket thread. It’s too late. I’ve already made up my mind. NO Jacket required! OK. Here I go. Mo2vation isn’t the only one to get assimilated. This may turn into a somewhat lengthy post, but I’ll try to break it out to make it easy to respond to...

    PADI Poll

Y in '72, PADI O/W in '90, working through several PADI specialties now toward Master, which really doesn't seem to mean anything, but I'm getting what I wasnt out of the specialties, and it was a "package" deal with my LDS & instructor. Looking to do DIR-F if I can get there over Easter...

any new mexico spearfishermen out there

Probably the one. It's actually on the Chama River which drains to the Rio Grande. It's fed via a tunnel system form the San Juan drainage. It's an east slope lake (to the Atlantic) that is fed primarily with west slope (to the Pacific) water. As for Mercury, not really an issue for me...

any new mexico spearfishermen out there

Hi joens Lakes over here ar pretty sad right now. I am at Heron Reservoir every other weekend all summer form Memorial to Labor day. It has Kokanee as well as some other species of salmonids. Unfortunately, it is very low. I did some diving for our sail club over Labor Day...

    Divers death

I just got my DS cert last fall. Trying to use the suit as a BC as they instruct not only didn't make sense, I found it was much harder to control. I've since developed the habit of keeping just enough air in the suit to prevent a squeeze & that's it. Other than that, it's about the same as...

    Kids diving? No way!

I really don't think o-ring & ElectricZombie are as hard core about it as they might come across. To a certain extent, even as a dad with a 15 year old certified at 13, I agree with them. And it has nothing to do with the kids or their age. It goes to how well prepared the parents are to...

    Kids diving? No way!

So it's the kid's fault that sytem is failing? And they should be punished by non-participation in an activity. I'd certainly support we go back to the kind of regimen I had to go through, but it's not going to happen. You and O-ring still have a few years to go until you understand the...

    PADI AOW Course

motivation. I got Drysuit & Nitrox last fall to do some work on a Marina for a sail club I work for. As a result of having bought a drysuit, I can now dive the cooler waters we have much of the year here. Since I had two specialties (PADI, BTW) and wanted to take several others, you pay...

    Kids diving? No way!

OK...she turns sixteen in september, and already has her O/W. Just kidding:bonk: Still needs to be an objective determination by "responsible" parents. Not all qualify in that respect, either. I gotta get back to work. =-)

    Kids diving? No way!

Let's not go there. There are a lot of ADULTS that should never have made it out. I'm one of those that think it should be a lot harder to get that card than it is. But then, I think it's way to easy to get your driver's license, too. I'm just kind of a HardA** about things like...

    Kids diving? No way!

I agree that subjectivity is not good, but believe it or not, some parent do look at there child's acttvities objectively. Age, to a certain extent, has nothing to do with it. I'm sure you know people, as I do, in their 30's & 40"s that don't have the sense to pour pee out of a boot with the...

    Kids diving? No way!

got certified at 12. She could have handled it at ten if she'd been so inclined, but hadn't developed the interest. I think that has as much to do with it as anything. She started swiming in the deep end on her own at 6-7, and is pretty confortable in the water. She's also the youngest in...
