It would be a great convenience factor for those divers who could afford it.
It takes time and experience to learn to navigate with a compass and off landmarks. A device like this would just make finding sites and finding your way back to the boat a lot easier.
About 4 years, but...
The idea (courtesy of mo2) would be to put the SK7 into the DSS boot, and then use the holes meant for bungee to bolt it onto a wrist slate. I'm about to order one of these boots now for that purpose and wanted to check if there was any reason why this wouldn't work?
What diameter (screw...
It's noticeably heavier on land, but in the water I don't feel it, plus it's easy to inflate with because when I press the inflate button my chest acts as "counterbalance" if you will (can't think of the right word) so I don't need to hold to grab it with my whole hand like I do with regular...
I use a 13 inch corrugated hose for singles without the air2, and 18 inch corrugated hose with the air2. I need those extra 5 inches to be able to turn my head all the way to the right when breathing the air2 (or Rite Source in my case). But I have it on a necklace so it doesn't dangle or create...
Thanks for the excellent summary.
I don't really see anything wrong with letting an non-AOW qualified diver rec dive with AOW students unless it was an "advanced" dive in the sense of something only AOW certified divers (or AOW students) would normally be allowed to do. For example, if it was...
What kind (brand) 3-panel do you have?
Just want to know since I need to replace my old (mutilated) one, which incidentally didn't have a problem locking securely, hence I want to avoid ones that do (sorry, don't want to insult your gear, but just need to know).
Also, thanks for the...
okay, so torus 26's free state lift is 30#. mach v 30's free state lift is 32# iirc. bottomline is that there will probably be only a 2# difference between them (all else equal) since both have a similar shape and a narrow center panel. of course the size of the bottom and top arcs could...
No, I remember the thread. In particular I remember you measured Tobin's LCD 30 and found it provides 37# of free lift using your measurement method. That's 23% over the nominal lift. Add 23% to the Torus 26 and you get 32# of lift (free form), which is why I assume it's about the same as...
There was a thread somewhere here in which Tobin and Patrick discussed different ways to rate wings. As I recall their preferred methods were different the end result of which was that (unless something has changed) the Torus 26 and Mach V 30 probably provide about the same amount of lift in...
I use OPV almost exclusively. In the rare instances that I would be using the inflator/deflator to vent the wing, I would probably be quite a bit head up to begin and the surgical tubing on my necklace flexes enough that I should be able to vent from it. But for now I keep the the mouthpiece...
I love the extra bolt-on weight plates for my DSS plate, though I modified them so that I can easily use them on the side of the plate facing my back for various reasons (so they don't interfere with the STA, wings and add so I get a little extra depth for my sausage weight).
For anyone interested here are the rest of the pics: mr_floater/single tank rig - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I took them (or someone else did) mainly to show someone who asked about how my Rite-Source (air2) worked on a necklace and whether 18" corrugated hose with a 22" LP hose + 2"...
I haven't seen a Signature Series or Extreme Mach V first hand, but the main difference of course is that the Razors don't have the protective outer shell. That's better for streamlining (maybe only marginally given how narrow they both are), but worse for ruggedness. I guess most people...
I think they think I'm weird. I just tell them I need the pics to sell stuff on ebay (not that I'm about to sell this wing anytime soon).
I suppose. Seems like there's always a little something more I need or need to replace/upgrade/improve. But I try to sell off as much of the gear I'm not...
Not sure why it's not listed yet at ST. Maybe they have limited availability because it's new. I bought mine by phone.
Anyway, this is the 30# Razor version of the Mach V, which was $250 - the usual 10% SB discount when I bought mine.
Old thread but...
I was searching because I wanted to find a way to attach a Suunto SK7 to a wrist slate. Guess this is the way to go.
Just one question: Why does everyone put the BT/computer/compass on the right end of the slate? If you wear it on the left hand and write on it with your...
I like wrist slates and I'd also like to get a proper wrist mounted compass (Suunto SK7), but my forearm gets too crowded, especially since I have a watch there too.
I'm wondering if anyway has had success in combining a wrist slate with the Suunto Sk7?
I'm thinking of something along...
