    Best rescue is no rescue

OW + 4 days, including deep and nitrox(assuming he didnt do the "diving version" of the class) Wouldn't he also need a couple of days for Adventure diver since you need at least that to do Deep, if he was PADI at least? How did he fit all the class and study time in and still play by the...

    Comments on Updated TOS

I was worried it was a Facebook bait and switch type of change, where all pictures, account, and personal information was hereby property of SB and would definitely be sold to the highest bidder and used in direct marketing purposes... I am glad it is such a small change as to not really be one...

Would you buy a fishing license just to hunt lionfish?

In some places in the US, this too is a permit-required activity. An attempt to raise revenue off of the helpful nature of some concerned citizens? :zen:

Where can someone get advanced training?

Thanks everyone for their input. Tech or Fundies or cave cannot possibly be the only answer. I would bet that most of the instructors in this thread offer that intermediate step, even at a rec level. Let me ponder how to rephrase the question for a bit... :zen:

Where can someone get advanced training?

No, I am not looking for technical training. At least I dont think I am. Am I? Hmmm, maybe I am. Seems unfair that to be a safer rec diver I have to be tech trained. :crying: I was planning on eventually trying it out if I got halfway decent at rec diving. Maybe I have to move it up a...

Should I buy a pony bottle?

If you are mostly worried about first stage blowouts, H valves and Y vavles might be what you are looking for. :landmine: If you do this, make sure you practice a lot before really counting on it. :zen:

Where can someone get advanced training?

Where? Besides the three I mentioned. Is there a list of courses like this? It can, but often times doesnt due to the economics of it all. And of course the "conditions equal to or better than" thing could reduce the skills taught in the class. I try to do some of it on my own, sometimes...

    Is NAUI leaving the islands?

Its a weird question I know, but searching on the NAUI Dive Center Locator, I only see UH-Hilo, one shop each on Kauai, Oahu, and the Big Island, and what looks like one independent. I thought there were a lot more before, though I cant name them.. :zen:

Where can someone get advanced training?

Let me start by saying I hope this is not the start of the Rescue or not, DM or not, DM vs MD, which standard course, GUE or not, tech or not, or PADI vs whoever thread... So in the mostly lurking I do in this forum, I see the recurring idea that new divers want to get to DM to become a...

acsent to altitude after diving a computer

So it seems there is no way of actually doing it directly from a computer. The rule from combining the last two posts seems to be wait 1 hour if you were not close to NDL, wait 3 hours if you were close to NDL, wait 8 hours if you went into deco. It seems that figuring it out as a multilevel...

acsent to altitude after diving a computer

How do you safely ascend to some altitude after diving at sea level on a computer? I have seen the "Required Surface Interval Before Ascent to Altitude After Diving" table posted here and in the NOAA manual. It seems like you need pressure groups to use that table right? I dont think...

    snuba logged?

Would it be acceptable to log a SNUBA dive in your logbook? I know there are no logbook police, so I am just curious as to what is considered "fair." Also, i just passed the one year mark since certification. Woo hoo! :zen:
