A Serious Incident at Deception Pass...

    >> Some think being "macho" is risking you butt, that is just being foolish. Yes, and 'The Voice' that you guys are talking about is not entirely superstition. Our subconscious, which often tries to stand in our way, helps us sometimes, too. Maybe you could smell the fear on a buddy that you...

All I can say is I hate drysuits!

OTOH I've had two drysuits with neo wrist seals and haven't had a problem there - yet. The current one has like 300 dives on it. Why did you have to replace yours? My friends with latex often complain that they're cold.

Nah, DUI d/s with electronic circulative cooler. It's the latest thing. <Twitch>

    Wrist vs Console

If you guys would just move the left waistband D-ring forward a little bit, you wouldn't have to unclip the galdern thing every time you wanted to check your air. If you position it just right, all you have to do is just nod a bit and it's right there. (As long as you have a half-decent mask, at...

    Hell & high water

Not. Authenticated city engineering guy, and he did in fact run a rope into the basement - which she had to live with for 2 months.

    Hell & high water

Well, it's flood season again up here in the middle of the bald prairie. If the snow melts too quickly, there'll be much inconveniance. I have a friend who lives in a house in an older area of the city, near the river, and just before that last stupidly big crest in 97, there was a knock on...

All I can say is I hate drysuits!

The theory is that if you want to check whether it's on - and you've turned it all the way on - when you check, it won't move. Then, you don't know if it's all the way on or seized off. If there's a 1/4 turn play, you turn it out a 1/4 turn and back in. You know immediately that it was on in...

Neoprene. Warmer. Also less likely to tear. (In fact pretty much impossible to tear.)

    Scared of sharks

I have squirrel issues too, but only because my father insists on shooting them out through his kitchen window, .177 pellet rifle in one hand, martini in the other - in broad daylight. His neighbors have actually become used to it. <twitch>

A Serious Incident at Deception Pass...

Well not necessarily. However, it's also possible to plan a dive so you return to the surface with 0 PSI, which wouldn't necessarily result in anything bad... ;)

    Were your drygloves an improvement?

So does that mean you can 'zip' on a set of rings and use conventional drygloves? (I.E. the concrete mixer kind?) And I suppose that when you do, there's no inner seal?

    Were your drygloves an improvement?

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEk!! I didn't notice that part. $168 a pair? (Right at this moment the DUI site is down.) Here was me all ready to load up on zip gloves. The plot thickens. As for the inner seal business, sounds like a pain. I don't work around anything sharp, but clambering about...

    Scared of sharks

    >> Doole, do you instruct in Northern Australia? << Nope >> Not to keep bashing but doesn't the box jelly fish have a limited range and is only found off the coast of Northern Australia? << As far as I know that is correct >> That was my basic understanding that was published in...

    Were your drygloves an improvement?

Doole - I would disagree, in that you're talking about a thread on drygloves. You're not getting a lot of respondees from the Mayan Riviera or Florida here. Right - I meant on the entire board. I don't think I did a single dive last year where the surface temperature cracked the 70 mark...

    Were your drygloves an improvement?

'Sissy' - don't you believe it. Betcha 7/8 of all the miscreants on here never stuck their big toes in anything less than 65F. The UP corollary makes sense to me. Thanks for the info, kids - I (for one) am gonna go for it. Those zip seal doodads that allow one to flip either way sound like...

All I can say is I hate drysuits!

Hm. I must be a bit dim again, this morning. No, the hood's a tighter fit than that. Mask or reg? Explain.

    Were your drygloves an improvement?

Sorry it's confusing. I guess either, i.e. asking if you prefer dry gloves over latex seals. Didn't think that would throw in a curve. Do they get in the way of regular dexterity issues, IOW does it become harder to get your mask on, etc?

    Were your drygloves an improvement?

I'm considering ging that route, so votes will be appreciated. (And hopefully, useful to others.) I've seen lots of people fumbling about with these things, too. Please consider the fumble factor in your vote.

Well, yeah. And I certainly don't mean to minimalize the need to know the desperate measures. They're quite appropriate, once you get desperate.

Finally - somebody who sees the point. :dazzler1: "The real world" - thanks for speaking my language. I like the mask excercise, too. As for the rest of you, try venting through a neoprene neck seal covered by a DUI 'warm neck' hood while wearing 3mm gloves. I think it would be an order...
