    Mares Axis Octo freeflow

I second that - the "stupid octo holder" virtually seals the mouthpiece so I don't even know how it could free flow with that on. It's actually convenient to hang the octo on the bc by it but if it was needed in a pinch I'm not sure if the mouthpiece would survive being ripped off the "stupid...

Do you dive with a buddy? Always, Sometimes, hardly ever?

Not to form an opinion or anything but, two things - one, sometimes it's hard to find a buddy to go diving with you. Given that, when you can find someone it comes with a certain expectation on you to look out for them and if something goes wrong you will have that guilt with you the...

    Kids diving? No way!

My 11 year old daughter wanted to take PADI OW with me. She's a born guppy and a surfer (which btw is alot more physically demanding and requires much more advanced water skills than diving) but I still thought that the technical aspects of breathing air at depth might be an issue for her...

I have about $600 to spend and I need help.

My suggestion is order from Leisure Pro - Mares Axis Reg and Octo - $200, Gauge - $100, and Sherwood Avid BCD - $315 or go with the Aqualung Maverick BCD for $250

    Mares Axis Regulators

I don't have a manual but I do have the reg. Seems to be a pop off activated by a button on the starboard side of the housing.
