"Swim-through" okay for open water divers?

Yes absolutely, I’d never attempt on my own. I’d presume the guided dives would be with guides with LOTS of experience for that type of dive and the added precautions necessary, not your average DM.

"Swim-through" okay for open water divers?

Most of the topic seems to have been focused on the tunnel like and sanitized easy wreck swim throughs. What about cenotes? Are they treated as a recreational swim through perhaps somewhat innocuously? Some look like they penetrate quite far with hard ceilings and passages to other caverns...

    Back up computer?

…. It’s a beautiful piece of kit. Now scratch it up and give it some dive boat cred.

$330 bucks- hell yeah. Website says $530 today, perhaps sale is over? Dang.

"Swim-through" okay for open water divers?

Yep, they are very dim, nothing to see unless you have a light to get some colours and check out the holes. No time to linger and look for small critters. I enjoy other parts of the dives much more, sometimes even safety stops. The more people there are in the train the less I enjoy it.

"Swim-through" okay for open water divers?

That would be a great briefing.

"Swim-through" okay for open water divers?

Maybe the term swim through needs to be tossed…. too vague and inocuous. At least in terms of natural formations perhaps using terms like arch or tunnel or tube could be used. Divers should be briefed on exactly what they are in for, length and width and given the option to divert with...

    Discover Scuba and Stingray Alley

I was in Cayman in October. There were lots of tour boats moored at the Stingray city site. As I had heard, the Cayman department of environment kept them fed during the depth of the Covid. To my eye it looked business as usual.

    Discover Scuba and Stingray Alley

It might be tough to get enough time to do both. Ambassador divers does discover scuba and afternoon tours to stingray city to mingle with stingrays and then a snorkel tour. Lots of operators do stingray city tours. There is a stingray city dive site (not the same location as the tour site)...

    Discovery dives and diving

I think it all depends on the competency of the DM or instructor. I’ve seen 1 on 1 DSD in open water that did not look safely done IMO.

    Peregrine Silicone Cover

Those minor nicks and scratches give you street cred.. or “ dive boat cred”. Shearwater should just sell them with nicks and scrapes like Fender did with “Road Worn” guitars.

    Dive trips with strangers/new friends?

Any other rules? E.g. Shearwater computer with same algo backup? NO Suunto’s. Back plate and wing? Long hose or DIR configuration? NO Spare Airs. 😀

Agree.. looks like he has taken too much Paxil. I was thinking along the lines of the iPhone thanks icon 🙏

Suggestion Consider a “thanks” reply icon?

When asking a question or seeking advice you may get many responses. Rather than acknowledging with a thumbs up or like or typing thanks to all the responders a “thanks” icon may be useful?

    Coz first time question

Thinking of going to Coz and it will be the first time. I do know that there are dozens of dive ops and hotels/condos/AI with tremendous options available and everyone has their favourite. Was thinking of Scuba Club Cozumel for several reasons: no commuting to a dock, 2 meals provided, close...

Thinking about options to upgrade my divecomputer

I dived for years with a Zoop and Vyper 2, hundreds of dives on them without issue. I sold the Vyper2 when I bought a Perdix. Still use the Zoop as a spare computer due its simplicity. I upgraded as I wanted a bigger bright display and not because of any limitations in the RGBM program...

Best dive computers for a new diver?

Shearwater Peregrine and Perdix - fantastic user interface, bright and sharp graphics, intuitive data layout, great support. A Peregrine AI would dominate the recreational scuba market. I think it still does for any non AI rec computer.
