Currently in US, what are the "must go" dive sites?

I came across an excellent site while researching North Carolina Wreck Diving recently. The site is run by a board member: http://www.wilmingtondiving.com/index.htm

Philippine in second half of March

Travel throughout the Philippines is not too expensive if you are earning in foreign currency, so check out as many sites while you are there. Good luck! If you don't want to rough it too much but still have a great dive, you should look into Panglao Island in Bohol (...

Seal Clubbing - What do Canadian Divers Think?

Yes, another poll is exactly what we need. On the other hand, your little picture icon of Canadian Club just given me a better idea, thanks SeanQ.

Seal Clubbing - What do Canadian Divers Think?

Wow, 29 pages worth of arguing over dolphin massacre? Who's got that amount of time to argue that much on a forum? I can't see this thread going that way, specially since clubbing is kills the seals immediately. What they do in Japan is purely cultural and totally in-humane (unless someone...

Seal Clubbing - What do Canadian Divers Think?

Thank you for the education. Obviously, I thought that clubbing was outdated and only used for cultural reasons. Knowing that it is the most effective and immediate form of killing and that the industry is closely regulated and monitored is a good thing. Is it because of the myths then that...

Seal Clubbing - What do Canadian Divers Think?

It's well documented that Cod population has ben descimated by overfishing and bottom trolling which kill the reefs. I must be missing something here, but I can't see why culling seal will help cod population rebound. Furthermore, there are better ways of killing seal than clubbing them to...

Who has made the most money from Scuba?

You ask a question that's almost impossible to quantify. People get into the Scuba industry to make money, but i'm sure that most realize they will never make it to Microsoft, GE or Warren Buffet status. The Scuba market is too small of a niche and the there's no way that one company can...

Help! I immersed my reg w/o the valve cap on

regardless of what type of reg you have (unless it's envoronmentally sealed new ones), you should take it in for service. It shoudn't require more than an inspection and cleaning, but they will dry it out and make an internal inspection to make sure everything is working properly. Considering...

    Bitten by Parrot Fish

The parrot fish may have exhibited the same territorial behavior as trigger fish. During mating season, these normally docile fish can get pretty nasty. Their territorial boundaries extend connically from the nest. You probably parked right above it's nest. Seeing what those parrot fish can...

Recommendation for dive classes in Manhatten?

There are two places that I've dealt with in the past. Both places will provide solid training. Ditto on Steve's problems with Pan Aqua, but you'll find that with many local shops. Pan Aqua - link is above Village Divers

    Leisurepro.com?

Leisure Pro warranty is as good as manufacturer warranty. I have first hand knowledge of this since LP is my LDS. They don't have the fastest service, so you may want to factor that into your purchasing criteria or annual service plan. However, as warranty's go, LP has never done me wrong in...

    Does ScubaBoard have a twin?

The copycats will come and go, but IMO, you guys have nothing to worry about. Scubaboard is the best resource for divers from all over the world. It has an excellent mix of recreational, technical & professional divers as well as manufactuers who actively participate in discussions. I haven't...

    Help with my puppy

I agree with Scuba65 about the crate training. If you don't have a crate, then barricade the pup in the kitchen for a time. Most importantly, use one of those enzyme cleaners to kill the pee smell around your house. Even if you use bleach and the odor goes away for you...dogs can still smell...

    Isla San Jorge (Bird Island)

Hi! I will be spending a few days in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in early April. The hotel offers dive trips to Bird Island, so I was wondering if it's worth the time and expense. Can anyone provide a report on the trip (time, sea conditions, expense, sea life, dive op, etc.) to Bird Island...
