Why GUE uses Backplates:
1. It grows with the diver. It allows to use a single system that grows with them from single tank recreational diving to double tanks with stage, deco bottles, and even into rebreathers. There is no need to learn how to dive multiple BCD's. It promotes muscle memory of...
One thing that's worth mentioning is the PDF's that are referenced only apply for about 30 minutes of deco. Beyond that there are other things to account for, such as minimum stop times for deep and deco stops, as well the amount of time that you spend on deco gases below the 70' bottle. That...
With a comment like that, its obvious that you didnt watch the entire video. Otherwise you would have noticed the very confident, competent, and comfortable group of student divers who obviously enjoyed themselves and the class. Sounds more like you're being negative for the sake of being negative.
I was there. I can say for a fact that nobody ran out of gas. Nor did anybody donate a long hose that was turned off. We do, after all, donate what we are breathing, so that would have been an easy catch. Any time we had a similated post or manifold failure, Ela would turn on any posts that we...
I'm in the same boat as Jason. We've been dive buddies with the same end goal for about five years. For me this class was about the right sized chunk. At this point, I believe that Jason and I know our limits as a team and we are aware of the unlimited navigational choices that our permit...
I've had my Uwatec Tec 2G for five years, have hundreds of hours on it, and have yet to change a battery on it. My buddies Xen is only getting about 10 hours per battery. That's flat out crap.
Faber tanks are way light compared to other manufacturer similar sized tanks. I use Worthington 108's and a six pound steel plate and that's more than enough weight for the dive. In Faber 108's and my six pound steel plate, I get a little floaty towards the end of the dive. Try ditching the...
Kevin,
I'm afraid that you've just described yourself. You were given plenty opportunities to actually provide something of substance, rather than parroting an article that you once read.
This train wreck has run it's course. Can we close it now?
Great pictures!
Gypsum is pretty fragile rock. Easily scratched with the finger nail and broken. It's generally formed from shallow seas. I'm not completely certain, but I imagine that once the rock is saturated it would crumble fairly easily with percolation.
What exposure protection are you using? Drysuit or Wetsuit?
Also, what kind of diving do you see yourself doing in say five years?
I've dove AL80's, LP72's, LP85's, HP100's, and LP108's. I love my LP108's for longish deeper dives with out a stage, but they are heavy. My LP85's are about...
I took it for a couple reasons. I wanted to gain a skill set that was comparable to divers that I had seen that had already or about to take the fundamentals class. Watching them in the water were my first inspiration. Second, I wanted to learn more about more about the secret handshake black...
I passed the first time around. I had <200 dives and had been diving a back plate, wing, doubles, can light, and a drysuit for about a year. I had around 80 dives in that setup prior to the class.
