    Tank hydro

I take my tanks to a fire extingusher shop that does both aluminum and steel. They VIP, hydro and eddy test for 35 bucks - aluminum.... 25 for steel.

Reducing the length of my DSMB

The half ass way you want to deploy it at a shallow depth will not work no matter how much you try or wish it could. Even Paul Bunion squeezing Big Blue, could not blow enough into it fast enough before it wants to get away. The only way to get enough air into it, by blowing into it, is to ride...

    I need a reality check

Taking liberties that would not be taken with anyone else... where does it end? Just because you are married to the clown does not mean that proper respect for person or property should end. You NEED another dive buddy for 2 reasons. One, so you have someone safe and respectful. Two, to show the...

Tank ID: Faber doubles with 2730 working pressure

22.5 from top of the neck to the bottom of the crown, 23.5 circumference. Don't lose those tanks! they can be max filled at 3000, hold more air than an aluminum of the same weight and sheds weight from the belt. If I could get my hands on a couple of more....

    OPV on DSMB ?

I have OMS SMB and lift bags - all are open bottom with a check valve to prevent spillage, an OPV to prevent over inflation and the straps sewn all along the seams to reinforce them. All of them will inflate and stay tight out of the water. The open bottom and skirt allows the bag to be inflated...

Reducing the length of my DSMB

Ok.... Addressing the suggested modification. With the top of the SMB rolled down and effectively trapped so that it does not unroll, it will be top heavy from the excess material. Since it will probably be under inflated too using your method, it will break and lay down at the water line. If...

Cannot equalize left ear AFTER resurfacing; 12 hours later, still no dice

Try this to clear it if chewing gum does not help. If it is a positive pressure block - Glass of water... Take a mouthful you can easily swallow it all at once... just as you swallow, pinch your nose closed. You may have to experiment to get the timing right. What this does it put a negative...

Reducing the length of my DSMB

I don't think it is how big a breath you have as it is the type SMB and deployment technique. My SMB and lift bags have a skirt with a check valve and relief valve. The spool has 30' of 1/8" white braided line and on the end of the line is a brass swivel. A double end snap traps the line to the...

Caution Diving the Riviera out of Dana Point Harbor CA

You money, your time and your perception of safety. Doing what you are comfortable with is what recreation is all about. They may have been doing it for a long time and doing it safely, but what has that got to with your comfort level. Just because they have been doing something for a long time...

Jacket BCD with dual tank straps

I have a Sherwood avid that has integrated weights and 2 straps, stable in any position, great pockets and not front bulky. With a belt plate you can side mount with it... 38lbs. lift. Very pleased with it. I also use the transpac and it weighs less with wing than the avid. The great thing about...

Ear Drops for cave diving in Mexico ?

Never put alcohol or peroxide in your ears. You can destroy the ducts that make the "ear wax" and if you have a perforation... You will not find that outcome pleasant. I suggest you get a script for Ofloxacin, been using that for years with great success. If you really want to keep the bat duky...

    Transpac and reg position

Try moving the connector plate for the Shoulder straps all the way to the back of the belt. Leave the Shoulder straps loose until you buckle the waist low and pull the crotch tight?. Close the chest strap and snug the shoulder straps then. The (soft (transpac) backpack) should be long enough and...

    Change.org Petition, Stop Shark Baiting

In just about any endeavor, whether it be business, social purview or discourse, politics and science, you put your money where your mouth is. s600/Mk25 regulator.. which octopus to get?

I use the same second stages paired on the first stage for primary and backup sets. I'm usually breathing off the long hose and that would be the one to donate. Both are held in place around my neck on a bungee loop and ether one can be easily pulled loose from the bungee.. rather than try to...

    SPG Boot??

Cut to the chase... Take that (what you show in the picture) to the band saw and cut off the excess gauge pocket... Give it a little buff on the grinder and you are good to go. Be sure to sacrifice the wall on the outer pocket to insure you have a wall all around your SPG.

    Who trained these idiots??

Crying and wringing of hands.. Oh my! Certification is based on skills and behavior only to the extent that the diver can dive safely. There are many ways to portray their behavior both in and out of the water. Clowns they may be, violators of rules they may be, but they are beyond the...
