    YS-01 Battery Drain

I have two YS-01 that I purchased used two years ago. I guess I am lucky , but no problems at all. I have done five dives without changing batteries on Bonaire. I have not used them since Coz in April and the batteries will still fire and recharge in the normal time. I wonder if the...

Trying to avoid a cattle d(r)ive

Unless a large group has a package deal including boat dives, you will see very few people on the boats. We like to stay at Capt Don's. Last time we were there I never saw more than 6-7 people on their boats. Some of the best dives I have done are in front of the resort. Buddy's is another...

    Questions on breathing

There would be no issue, but sometimes its hard to be sure you are at a stable depth ie low vis, open water, night, etc. Forming good habits that fit most situations will make you a better and safer diver. Then you can make a deliberate decision to do something different if the situation arises.

    Questions on breathing

The OP had some great questions. As a photographer, I try to make sure I am neutral, set up my shot, then inhale very slowly while making the shot. I don't have to contend with bubbles from my reg and the slow inhale keeps me from settling on the coral while my attention is on the camera...

My three day trip for Sat-Mon was cancelled for wx. Bummer, I lost a late summer trip last year due to a hurricane. I'm jinxed.

    I'm too stiff

Maybe those arm shackles that law enforcement uses to restrict prisoner arm movement could be used on new divers.:D I try to fold my arms near my chest and I keep my BCD inflator in my left hand. When I need to adjust for buoyancy, I don't have to feel around for it and it stops me from being...

New Divers, question on wetsuit purchasing?

+1 on salesperson making up a reason to buy what the have in stock. I would shop elsewhere. It makes me angry just hearing the story.

New Divers, question on wetsuit purchasing?

If you are going to dive Dutch Springs a 5mm is not enough for most people even at the end of the season. My son is always cold in a 7mm suit with a hooded vest. I am very cold tolerant and dive a 5mm merino lined suit. This is good for one dive at Dutch until the water starts to warm in July...

Headed down to dive next Sat, Sun, Mon. Hope the good conditions hold up. What are the water temps offshore?

How much do you use Air Integration?

I use it to check my gas often. On a wrist computer, AI gives you gas levels without having to look at a console. I use an AI wrist computer because I like having everything in one place. Gas, depth, time, No deco time, compass, etc. I have a full nav console as a backup, but I can get...

When to start Advanced Open Water Classes

We will have to disagree. If you are still task loaded with the material already "learned". You will get little from any new material presented. Learning skills that involve adapting and being comfortable in an alien and to a certain extent unforgiving enviornment does not equate to advancing...

When to start Advanced Open Water Classes

My personal opinion is that you should get 20-30 dives before AOW. Too soon and you are not ready, too late and you will probably have learned most it elsewhere. Being a more desirable buddy should not enter into it. I think you will find that most avid divers just want a buddy that can make...
