Shearwater AI transmitter in rec sidemount

I do it the same way. Depending on what kind of first stage you have, you can easily aim the transmitter down so it is perpendicular to the valve handle and ends above the top of the tank. It goes down as much as a 6" hose would when you bend it into a U and zip tie it to itself with a...

How to hang a deco cylinder?

Rather than needing a separate buoy you might be able to just drop a line with tanks hanging on it over the side and tie it to a rail pretty much right next to the anchor line and then have the lines connecting them so you know they aren't far away. But don't quote me on that i'm not a boat...

How to hang a deco cylinder?

This is how i've seen it as well. Don't have to make it over complicated. People that actually need it can follow the line from the anchor line to the buoy around 15 feet to get the gas if they actually need it.

The eddys are neutral even with the spring straps? That's pretty sweet

    plastic backplates

Switching up some gear for light weight travel (have a trip coming up in a couple of months). I'm in the market for a plastic backplate as even with my aluminum plate I'm overweighted with a single tank if I'm just in a rash guard/bathing suit. I know Tobin makes a kick ass kydex plate. I...

    What's up with Deep 6?

So i've been hearing more and more about deep 6 gear. I like what i've read about them on their website but it seems like they've just came out of no where. Have I just been under a rock or are they pretty new? If they are new, it seems like things wouldn't be tried and truly tested yet, however...

    Neutrally buoyant jet style fins

Looking for a neutrally buoyant jet style fin for travel and while not wearing dry/wet suit. I love my jet fins but they weigh my feet down way too much when I'm only in miniml exposure protection. I've been hearing a lot about the eddy fin but the deep 6 website doesn't say if they are...

    Inadvertent but valuable weighting lesson

And that's why I was saying I dive different than you. I do what @CharlieRogers does. Keep the bubble minimum.

    Inadvertent but valuable weighting lesson

Of course with thicker undergarments you need more weight. The point I was making was I won't dive with more weight with the same undergarments just to have a larger bubble for warmth. I don't want to manage a larger bubble. Rather than wear the same undergarments and add more weight to have...

    Inadvertent but valuable weighting lesson

I guess I dive dry slightly different. I only put enough air in the suit to loft/eliminate squeeze. No more. If I'm cold with this then I just wear heavier undergarments rather that add more air. This allows the least amount of air in the suit which allows for the smallest air bubble to deal...

In search of octo holder that actually works

Before I used a necklace I used a snorkel keeper like this for $1. If you just want to attach it to a d ring you can thread one end through the other so it's "tied" around whatever you want and it still leaves the other end free for the octo. If you make sure you put the mouth piece all the way...

In search of octo holder that actually works

Ummm...yes. A necklace bungee is the best way to go. But since you refuse, a snorkel keeper with one end around the harness and the other loop free and shoving the mouth piece in that loop with it all the way behind the zip tie of the mouth piece will keep it from ever coming out. It's also...

Sub-Gravity AquaProp; The Little DPV that could

Huh that looks pretty damn impressive. A $2k scooter with that depth rating and over an hour of burn time able to haul doubles and multiple stages? What are some of the negatives you have been hearing? Obviously it doesn't have the power or burn time of some of the 4-6k scooters but it's less...
