Going on a dive trip i like to make sure I've got an O-ring pack, spare batteries for my computer/torch, Blackwitch and patches for drysuit/bladder emergency repair. Some Alan keys and my AJ. oh and some spare dry gloves
I've been with the same club/shop/instructors since i started, they can teach pretty much any course from any agency. They do tend to lean towards SSI though especially for the more basic courses.
Are SSI courses better to teach? Are they cheaper than other courses to certify? What would be...
My attitude is that if a dive operation cannot support my DIN regs directly coupled to a tank, i.e. without a yoke adapter, then i'll find another company to dive with that can.
I've got a couple of Supreme's (and a couple of XTX100's)
I love how easy to breathe it is on the Aqualung reg, it's almost like the gas has a slightly positive 'push' into you, but it's never free flowed and I dive in some really cold water being from the UK too.
I moved to a technical setup...
My repair is holding nicely, I've done a few dives since fixing the end and i can recommend using E6000 glue for ensuring a watertight seal around the cable gland area over standard plastic epoxy adhesive (which failed almost immediately and flooded the batter compartment and circuit board area...
Thanks for this advice...
i've just completed the repair successfully, It was actually a little easier than the LED end of the cable i had to repair a while back.
I used some snipe-nose pliers (my leatherman wave multitool actually) to remove the inside portion of the battery clip and it was...
I was diving in Vietnam 6weeks ago and i knelt on some coral whilst freeing a trapped fish from a net.
My whole knee looked like i'd been stung by a bunch of wasps for days afterwards. the itching lasted a couple of weeks, I still have the raised bumps but they are going down slowly.
I've got an intermittent cable issue so I've got to open up things at the battery end. I did the head-end a few months ago no worries but the battery end?? Im not looking forward to trying to fix this end :(
If i have to pay for the course, the HSE Medical certificate PLUS yearly fees then I'm leaning more towards NOT doing the course.
Anyone able to tell me how much annual SSI DM fees are in the UK?
I love diving with newbies provided they are not reckless and seem sensible enough.
Yes, I am a very patient person, This was one of my traits that the dive centre picked up on and said i have a good personality to introduce people to scuba. "You are bubbly, fun, confident but serious when it...
This is great, i don't know why i didn't think to directly check on the SSI website myself (D'Oh!)
Re Knees, I was one of those that spent time on my knees (ooer) when i did my open water, but then the next week when i did my drysuit course it was explained that kneeling was no longer...
This centre have told me that its something i can do intensively or at my leisure. Its also gonna cost me £500 plus i will need to get a HSE medical at my own cost. They have said that the only benefits to this are personal satisfaction (plus trade discount on gear and further certs).
Im under...
My local dive centre have broached the subject of a Divemaster internship with them.
I have not considered this avenue of diving up until this point.
So in a nutshell, is there a 'pros/cons', or a specific 'Can/Cannot do' list anyone can point me in the direction of?
This course sounds like it...
Definitely buy your own mask.
I've never used my snorkel outside of my OW course.
I also bought my own wetsuit, although, again, this was a bit pointless as I'm from the UK and its nearly never warm enough to use apart from on warm holidays abroad.
I think its a good idea to buy your own fins...
if you want to see how your computer behaves in deco then tell it you're on air but dive on nitrox. Set it really conservative but do a typical dive.
Want to test the ascent alarm? Send it up on a dSMB.
Want to see what happened beyond MOD? Send it down on a weighted line.
Why you'd want to do...
